00:00:00:00 - 00:00:00:18
In the military
00:00:00:18 - 00:00:03:15
you're taught to do more with less so
00:00:04:03 - 00:00:05:09
within business model.
00:00:05:09 - 00:00:06:09
and within my business model,
00:00:06:09 - 00:00:07:18
I pretty much did the same thing.
00:00:07:18 - 00:00:08:16
And I believe that's
00:00:08:16 - 00:00:09:22
what kind of made me successful
00:00:09:22 - 00:00:10:03
within
00:00:10:03 - 00:00:11:04
My first couple of years
00:00:11:04 - 00:00:12:01
is because
00:00:12:01 - 00:00:13:13
we really did more with less
00:00:28:23 - 00:00:29:10
I'm your host,
00:00:29:10 - 00:00:31:15
the moderator, Rob Richardson,
00:00:31:15 - 00:00:33:17
my special guest here is Kern Alexander,
00:00:33:17 - 00:00:34:24
but before I get to him,
00:00:34:24 - 00:00:35:20
I want to do a
00:00:35:20 - 00:00:37:10
little bit of housekeeping.
00:00:37:10 - 00:00:38:21

how more people can learn
00:00:42:19 - 00:00:43:23
about the great disruption
00:00:43:23 - 00:00:45:05
that we're doing.
00:00:45:06 - 00:00:46:13
They can learn more about people
00:00:46:13 - 00:00:47:15
like Kern Alexander,
00:00:47:15 - 00:00:48:17
some of the other great guests

00:00:57:08 - 00:00:59:00
But we need your help.
00:00:59:00 - 00:00:59:20
Fellow disruptors.
00:00:59:20 - 00:01:00:22
So if you're watching this,

00:01:11:01 - 00:01:12:24
We really appreciate your support.
00:01:12:24 - 00:01:14:06
We've had a really, really good year.
00:01:14:06 - 00:01:16:01
We plan on having a really good
00:01:16:01 - 00:01:17:23
2022 as well. So.
00:01:17:23 - 00:01:19:03
All right.
00:01:19:03 - 00:01:19:24
So Kern Alexander
00:01:19:24 - 00:01:21:18
is with the higher collection.
00:01:21:18 - 00:01:23:21
He is also he's also served our country.
00:01:24:12 - 00:01:25:15
So he's a businessman.
00:01:25:15 - 00:01:26:23
He's a serviceman
00:01:26:23 - 00:01:28:09
and it's an honor
00:01:28:09 - 00:01:29:01
to have him on the show.
00:01:29:01 - 00:01:30:18
Kern, how are you doing, man?
00:01:30:18 - 00:01:31:17
Awe man I'm doing good.
00:01:31:17 - 00:01:32:23
Thank you so much for having me
00:01:32:23 - 00:01:34:05
today, man.
00:01:34:11 - 00:01:36:02
No problem. No problem
00:01:36:02 - 00:01:37:02
A pleasure to have you.
00:01:37:02 - 00:01:37:24
And you're out of Oakland,
00:01:37:24 - 00:01:40:02
California, right? Yes, sir. Yes, sir.
00:01:40:07 - 00:01:41:07
Yeah. Yeah.
00:01:41:07 - 00:01:42:10
My business is based out of
00:01:42:10 - 00:01:44:03
Oakland, California.
00:01:44:03 - 00:01:44:14
All right.
00:01:44:14 - 00:01:47:04
So how does one go from
00:01:47:20 - 00:01:48:17
serving our country?
00:01:48:17 - 00:01:51:12
And thank you for that to jumping into
00:01:52:12 - 00:01:53:15
owning a dispensary?
00:01:53:15 - 00:01:55:01
And like, how does that?
00:01:55:01 - 00:01:55:20
How does that happen?
00:01:55:20 - 00:01:57:21
How did that happen, though?
00:01:57:21 - 00:01:59:00
Those, you know,
00:01:59:00 - 00:02:00:00
those seem to be very different fields.
00:02:00:00 - 00:02:01:03
How did they get to collide?
00:02:01:03 - 00:02:02:15
Yeah, I'm just curious how we started.
00:02:02:15 - 00:02:03:07
Just jump right in.
00:02:03:07 - 00:02:04:09
How does one do that.
00:02:04:09 - 00:02:05:10
How do you get there.
00:02:05:10 - 00:02:07:03
How this path looked
00:02:07:03 - 00:02:07:09
Well,
00:02:07:09 - 00:02:09:00
what happened was, um,
00:02:09:00 - 00:02:11:07
I was based in California
00:02:11:07 - 00:02:12:07
a lot of my career.
00:02:12:07 - 00:02:14:20
I started my career in 2007,
00:02:15:04 - 00:02:18:09
and my first duty station was in Travis
00:02:18:09 - 00:02:19:13
Air Force Base,
00:02:19:13 - 00:02:21:09
which is in Northern California.
00:02:21:09 - 00:02:23:02
So I kind of had roots there
00:02:23:02 - 00:02:24:13
since about 2007.
00:02:24:13 - 00:02:25:18
Now throughout my time
00:02:25:18 - 00:02:26:17
being in the military.
00:02:26:17 - 00:02:27:13
Of course,
00:02:27:13 - 00:02:27:19
you know,
00:02:27:19 - 00:02:29:07
you get deployed all over the place,
00:02:29:07 - 00:02:30:11
but I've always seem
00:02:30:11 - 00:02:31:18
to come back to California.
00:02:31:18 - 00:02:32:24
It was like always my place
00:02:32:24 - 00:02:34:13
where I would come back to.
00:02:34:13 - 00:02:36:10
So even when I got stationed overseas,
00:02:36:10 - 00:02:37:03
I would come back.
00:02:37:03 - 00:02:38:10
I got stationed elsewhere
00:02:38:10 - 00:02:40:00
and I still came back. So,
00:02:41:08 - 00:02:42:21
you know, I got out
00:02:42:21 - 00:02:46:15
and my path wasn't really paved.
00:02:46:15 - 00:02:47:08
You know,
00:02:47:08 - 00:02:48:19
at first I
00:02:48:19 - 00:02:51:04
I knew that I didn't want to go back
00:02:51:04 - 00:02:52:22
to doing what I was doing before,
00:02:52:22 - 00:02:54:19
which is pretty much overworking myself
00:02:54:19 - 00:02:55:13
for the government.
00:02:55:13 - 00:02:55:21
I knew
00:02:55:21 - 00:02:56:10
I wanted to kind of
00:02:56:10 - 00:02:57:16
take that leap of faith
00:02:57:16 - 00:02:59:15
and get out there on my own.
00:02:59:15 - 00:03:02:16
So one of my buddies, he had a cannabis
00:03:02:16 - 00:03:06:01
dispensary back in the day in 2015.
00:03:06:01 - 00:03:08:09
This was more like the medicinal model.
00:03:08:20 - 00:03:10:06
Back in the day 2015.
00:03:10:06 - 00:03:11:02
That's now back in the day.
00:03:11:02 - 00:03:12:15
But go ahead, right?
00:03:12:15 - 00:03:13:14
Well, I don't.
00:03:13:14 - 00:03:15:16
I'll tell you this so much has changed.
00:03:15:19 - 00:03:16:15
I know, right? Right.
00:03:16:15 - 00:03:18:16
I tell people like we got like
00:03:18:16 - 00:03:20:04
COVID has changed like time.
00:03:20:04 - 00:03:21:19
You know, there used to be AC BC
00:03:21:19 - 00:03:23:04
and now it's like.
00:03:23:04 - 00:03:24:20
And now it's like a
00:03:24:20 - 00:03:27:10
a AC BC after COVID, before COVID.
00:03:27:11 - 00:03:29:18
And like, before Covid Right? I.
00:03:30:07 - 00:03:31:10
And that's real life thing
00:03:31:10 - 00:03:32:23
I feel like two years of my life
00:03:32:23 - 00:03:33:19
has just been missing.
00:03:33:19 - 00:03:35:24
I don't even know what really.
00:03:35:24 - 00:03:37:06
It just went so fast.
00:03:37:06 - 00:03:38:08
You know what I mean?
00:03:38:08 - 00:03:39:05
Doesn't seem like two years
00:03:39:05 - 00:03:40:11
I tell people, the last two years
00:03:40:11 - 00:03:41:10
it felt like 15.
00:03:41:10 - 00:03:42:13
Like it's like
00:03:42:13 - 00:03:43:22
feels like a time warp, bro.
00:03:43:22 - 00:03:45:24
But anyway, I digress. Go ahead.
00:03:45:24 - 00:03:46:22
Yeah, but but yeah.
00:03:46:22 - 00:03:49:00
So essentially back in 2015,
00:03:49:00 - 00:03:50:09
it was more like a
00:03:50:09 - 00:03:52:06
medicinal model in the cannabis space
00:03:52:06 - 00:03:54:00
where you could have like collectives.
00:03:54:00 - 00:03:56:16
So my buddy kind of did his thing
00:03:56:16 - 00:03:58:09
and he started his collectives,
00:03:58:09 - 00:03:59:04
so he kind of hit me up.
00:03:59:04 - 00:04:00:22
He was like, Yo bro, what you doing?
00:04:00:22 - 00:04:01:21
Now that you out.
00:04:01:21 - 00:04:03:02
You know you should hop into the cannabis
00:04:04:06 - 00:04:05:17
hop in the cannabis space.
00:04:05:17 - 00:04:06:03
At first,
00:04:06:03 - 00:04:06:21
I was against it
00:04:06:21 - 00:04:09:24
because my job in the military I was
00:04:09:24 - 00:04:11:09
I worked intelligence.
00:04:11:09 - 00:04:13:21
So for me, you know, we kind of
00:04:14:22 - 00:04:16:07
we I try to do things
00:04:16:07 - 00:04:18:01
the right way, right?
00:04:18:01 - 00:04:19:19
So for me, a lot of times.
00:04:19:19 - 00:04:22:04
So you got a lot of stuff you can't discuss with us
00:04:22:22 - 00:04:24:11
Oh, sure. Yeah.
00:04:24:13 - 00:04:26:14
But but, you know,
00:04:26:14 - 00:04:27:19
getting into the cannabis space,
00:04:27:19 - 00:04:28:21
it was just it was
00:04:28:21 - 00:04:29:22
it was a learning curve.
00:04:29:22 - 00:04:31:14
So at first, I didn't jump right in,
00:04:31:14 - 00:04:32:12
you know, I was a student.
00:04:32:12 - 00:04:34:07
I became a student to my boy,
00:04:34:07 - 00:04:35:09
learned the ways of
00:04:35:09 - 00:04:36:21
how it actually worked.
00:04:36:21 - 00:04:39:10
And then, um, I became a patient.
00:04:39:10 - 00:04:39:22
That's really
00:04:39:22 - 00:04:42:01
what won me over to the space itself.
00:04:42:01 - 00:04:43:01
I went into the VA
00:04:43:01 - 00:04:45:05
as I said, I'm 100% disabled
00:04:45:05 - 00:04:46:05
and I walked out
00:04:46:05 - 00:04:47:16
with a bag full of medicine.
00:04:47:16 - 00:04:49:15
Maybe maybe two bags full of medicine.
00:04:49:15 - 00:04:50:16
A lot of it was Motrin,
00:04:50:16 - 00:04:52:17
but a lot of it was upper and downer,
00:04:52:17 - 00:04:54:12
kind of like psychotics, you know,
00:04:55:13 - 00:04:56:14
or psychoactive.
00:04:56:14 - 00:04:59:03
So I didn't really want to put myself
00:04:59:04 - 00:04:59:19
through that
00:04:59:19 - 00:05:01:03
after having to put myself
00:05:01:03 - 00:05:02:01
through taking pills
00:05:02:01 - 00:05:03:20
throughout my whole career already.
00:05:03:20 - 00:05:06:00
So I actually sat down
00:05:06:00 - 00:05:07:03
with a cannabis doctor
00:05:07:03 - 00:05:08:09
and they gave me alternatives
00:05:08:09 - 00:05:11:02
for PTSD, alternatives for anxiety,
00:05:11:11 - 00:05:12:02
lack of sleep.
00:05:12:02 - 00:05:14:06
I wasn't sleeping
00:05:14:06 - 00:05:15:20
my sleep schedules, all jacked up.
00:05:15:20 - 00:05:17:03
So so that that's really
00:05:17:03 - 00:05:17:23
what won me over.
00:05:17:23 - 00:05:20:02
I decided to just become an advocate
00:05:20:02 - 00:05:22:04
for it in a positive manner,
00:05:22:04 - 00:05:24:22
you know, because in 2015 it was,
00:05:25:04 - 00:05:25:24
you know,
00:05:25:24 - 00:05:27:05
everybody was looking at it like a.
00:05:27:05 - 00:05:28:07
My God, you're you know,
00:05:28:07 - 00:05:29:15
you're a drug dealer.
00:05:29:15 - 00:05:31:22
but for real
00:05:31:22 - 00:05:32:19
Yeah, I know it's how.
00:05:32:19 - 00:05:33:21
They were looking at it, I remember.
00:05:33:21 - 00:05:34:21
Yeah, yeah.
00:05:34:21 - 00:05:36:13
But you know, for me, I had to like,
00:05:36:13 - 00:05:37:23
put a positive spin on it
00:05:37:23 - 00:05:39:09
and actually show
00:05:39:09 - 00:05:42:03
that this drug can actually help me,
00:05:42:03 - 00:05:43:12
and it can actually wean people
00:05:43:12 - 00:05:45:03
off of the things that
00:05:45:03 - 00:05:45:24
people were stuck on.
00:05:45:24 - 00:05:47:12
So spoke with
00:05:47:12 - 00:05:49:13
that cannabis doctor changed my life.
00:05:49:13 - 00:05:50:18
Pretty much.
00:05:50:22 - 00:05:52:11
I'm of the belief.
00:05:52:11 - 00:05:53:19
You know, so sorry to interrupt you.
00:05:53:19 - 00:05:54:15
I'm of the belief
00:05:54:15 - 00:05:56:14
that as controversial opinion.
00:05:56:14 - 00:05:57:03
But I believe it.
00:05:57:03 - 00:05:57:07
Like,
00:05:57:07 - 00:05:59:09
I think most drugs should be legalized
00:05:59:09 - 00:06:00:24
and regulated because it's
00:06:00:24 - 00:06:02:01
when it goes underground.
00:06:02:01 - 00:06:03:12
That's when we create a new
00:06:03:12 - 00:06:04:09
criminal element.
00:06:04:09 - 00:06:06:23
It helps that thrive.
00:06:06:23 - 00:06:07:13
I mean, there
00:06:07:13 - 00:06:08:13
obviously be some debates
00:06:08:13 - 00:06:10:06
about other types of drugs.
00:06:10:06 - 00:06:13:07
Certainly, marijuana has been
00:06:13:15 - 00:06:15:06
has put more black
00:06:15:06 - 00:06:17:03
and brown people in jail unnecessarily
00:06:17:03 - 00:06:19:13
unnecessarily than any other substance,
00:06:19:13 - 00:06:21:14
and it's been used as a reason.
00:06:21:14 - 00:06:22:08
Exactly.
00:06:22:08 - 00:06:24:22
And so what I like about you
00:06:24:22 - 00:06:25:12
being involved
00:06:25:12 - 00:06:26:09
is at least now
00:06:26:09 - 00:06:28:05
some of us are participating
00:06:28:05 - 00:06:29:06
in the opportunity
00:06:29:06 - 00:06:30:06
to make a return
00:06:30:06 - 00:06:31:13
because unfortunately,
00:06:31:13 - 00:06:33:24
you are the exception to the rule.
00:06:33:24 - 00:06:34:15
Most of the time,
00:06:34:15 - 00:06:35:00
we're not
00:06:35:00 - 00:06:36:05
we're not involved in the process.
00:06:36:05 - 00:06:36:23
We don't have an opportunity
00:06:36:23 - 00:06:38:09
to be involved in the process
00:06:38:09 - 00:06:39:19
unless we're
00:06:39:20 - 00:06:40:11
in jail with
00:06:40:11 - 00:06:42:16
some of us are still in jail for crimes
00:06:42:16 - 00:06:44:01
related to marijuana,
00:06:44:01 - 00:06:44:23
while mostly
00:06:44:23 - 00:06:47:03
everyone else is benefiting from it.
00:06:47:03 - 00:06:49:02
So I do applaud you for doing that.
00:06:50:09 - 00:06:50:21
And then you
00:06:50:21 - 00:06:51:12
know what we
00:06:51:12 - 00:06:53:17
do too, is we try to help with education,
00:06:54:15 - 00:06:54:23
you know,
00:06:54:23 - 00:06:56:15
because what I learned being within
00:06:56:15 - 00:06:57:08
a space is
00:06:57:08 - 00:06:58:21
you don't know what you don't know.
00:06:58:21 - 00:06:59:18
You know, like,
00:06:59:18 - 00:07:01:04
you don't know those opportunities
00:07:01:04 - 00:07:02:17
when those licenses open up.
00:07:02:17 - 00:07:04:23
You don't know when
00:07:04:23 - 00:07:06:15
those cities become legal.
00:07:06:15 - 00:07:09:10
Or like how much the actual cost is.
00:07:09:10 - 00:07:11:07
If people know the actual cost of things,
00:07:11:07 - 00:07:13:08
sometimes they probably wouldn't.
00:07:13:08 - 00:07:15:09
They probably wouldn't run away from it,
00:07:15:10 - 00:07:16:16
you know, cost.
00:07:16:16 - 00:07:19:15
In the beginning, it cost me about 2500.
00:07:19:15 - 00:07:20:23
But now, you know,
00:07:20:23 - 00:07:21:23
the cost has like
00:07:21:23 - 00:07:23:20
almost tripled quadrupled
00:07:23:20 - 00:07:24:18
in certain places
00:07:24:18 - 00:07:25:18
to get within the space.
00:07:25:18 - 00:07:28:14
So we try to push the education of
00:07:28:18 - 00:07:30:15
getting in the medical space
00:07:30:15 - 00:07:32:11
while we have the opportunity.
00:07:32:11 - 00:07:35:05
While we have the opportunity exactly,
00:07:35:06 - 00:07:36:11
because the medical space for me
00:07:36:11 - 00:07:38:05
was the lowest point of entry
00:07:38:05 - 00:07:39:10
and the easiest point of entry
00:07:39:10 - 00:07:41:09
to get in when it became recreational.
00:07:42:10 - 00:07:43:15
It was overpriced
00:07:43:15 - 00:07:44:17
and then
00:07:44:17 - 00:07:47:00
the barrier of entry became super high.
00:07:47:19 - 00:07:48:12
Yeah, no doubt.
00:07:48:12 - 00:07:50:19
I'll tell you, it's really
00:07:50:19 - 00:07:51:22
when we talk about
00:07:51:22 - 00:07:54:01
educating our community
00:07:54:01 - 00:07:56:13
and entering at the point of
00:07:56:13 - 00:07:57:19
where the opportunity is.
00:07:57:19 - 00:07:58:10
Like you said, it's
00:07:58:10 - 00:07:59:15
really, really important
00:07:59:15 - 00:08:00:07
for a lot of things
00:08:00:07 - 00:08:01:03
because that's where the
00:08:01:03 - 00:08:01:20
that's where wealth
00:08:01:20 - 00:08:03:12
opportunities are created.
00:08:03:12 - 00:08:06:01
And if we're ever going to really address
00:08:06:01 - 00:08:07:21
the racial wealth gap,
00:08:07:21 - 00:08:09:13
we have to move on these opportunities
00:08:09:13 - 00:08:10:14
as they present themselves.
00:08:10:14 - 00:08:12:03
So that that's an example
00:08:12:03 - 00:08:13:01
that you mentioned.
00:08:13:01 - 00:08:14:22
I'm big in the space of Web3,
00:08:14:22 - 00:08:16:04
I don't know if you know much about Web3.
00:08:16:04 - 00:08:17:01
But yeah, yeah.
00:08:17:01 - 00:08:17:20
And that's
00:08:17:22 - 00:08:19:07
yeah, yeah, I've been checking on it.
00:08:19:07 - 00:08:20:00
Yeah, yeah.
00:08:20:00 - 00:08:21:24
So we had the first black owned
00:08:21:24 - 00:08:24:06
and NFT marketplace on the globe
00:08:24:06 - 00:08:25:08
is built on flow
00:08:25:08 - 00:08:27:04
blockchain called Disrupt Art.
00:08:27:04 - 00:08:28:05
But I say that to say like,
00:08:28:05 - 00:08:30:20
I'm working to onboard people
00:08:30:20 - 00:08:33:04
because I don't want them to
00:08:33:04 - 00:08:34:08
be excluded from this opportunity
00:08:34:08 - 00:08:36:06
right now is a great time to get in.
00:08:36:06 - 00:08:37:17
And just the opportunity
00:08:37:17 - 00:08:38:17
is just ample, right?
00:08:39:20 - 00:08:40:21
But it won't necessarily be
00:08:40:21 - 00:08:42:22
that way in three to five years,
00:08:42:22 - 00:08:43:23
you know, had you been an.
00:08:43:23 - 00:08:46:18
No the barriers of entry are going to be
00:08:46:23 - 00:08:48:01
Way too high like this show
00:08:48:01 - 00:08:48:22
And then that
00:08:48:22 - 00:08:49:17
and then even
00:08:49:17 - 00:08:51:07
if not the barrier entry,
00:08:51:07 - 00:08:53:11
the misconceptions to entry
00:08:53:11 - 00:08:55:06
will be so rampant.
00:08:55:06 - 00:08:55:19
Well, that's it.
00:08:55:19 - 00:08:57:13
That's a really good point.
00:08:57:13 - 00:08:59:19
The biggest misconception to entry,
00:08:59:19 - 00:09:00:10
and I want to get back
00:09:00:10 - 00:09:02:02
to your point of view very quickly here.
00:09:02:02 - 00:09:03:15
But you know, the problem
00:09:03:15 - 00:09:05:14
that people are stopping people
00:09:05:14 - 00:09:06:09
a lot is two things
00:09:06:09 - 00:09:07:12
is this block in their mind.
00:09:07:12 - 00:09:08:13
It's either
00:09:08:13 - 00:09:10:22
it's a I'm not a technical person,
00:09:10:22 - 00:09:12:14
so I can't do that, which is not
00:09:12:14 - 00:09:13:20
you don't have to be a technical person.
00:09:13:20 - 00:09:15:00
I mean, you know how email works,
00:09:15:00 - 00:09:15:23
you're not technical person.
00:09:15:23 - 00:09:16:17
All you need to understand
00:09:16:17 - 00:09:19:02
is how to think basic work one or two,
00:09:19:10 - 00:09:20:17
everybody saying iIt's a fraud.
00:09:20:17 - 00:09:21:07
Well I said all right?
00:09:21:07 - 00:09:22:00
Listen,
00:09:22:09 - 00:09:23:04
it's not a fraud,
00:09:23:04 - 00:09:25:01
but it's 17 billion dollar
00:09:25:01 - 00:09:26:04
has been created this year,
00:09:26:04 - 00:09:28:17
so the best performing asset
00:09:29:07 - 00:09:30:07
right now
00:09:30:07 - 00:09:32:03
across the entire country, so right,
00:09:32:03 - 00:09:32:18
if it's a fraud.
00:09:32:18 - 00:09:34:09
You at least need to see what's going on
00:09:34:09 - 00:09:35:06
where. People are going.
00:09:35:06 - 00:09:36:18
Wow, right? Right. Like why?
00:09:38:00 - 00:09:39:04
And it's not a fraud.
00:09:39:04 - 00:09:40:00
But like getting people.
00:09:40:00 - 00:09:41:13
I think that's also a trap we have in our minds
00:09:41:13 - 00:09:42:11
Yeah that fear
00:09:42:11 - 00:09:44:13
You know, we. It's fear
00:09:44:13 - 00:09:45:18
We mentally block ourselves
00:09:45:18 - 00:09:46:21
from opportunities
00:09:46:21 - 00:09:48:11
before we even try them.
00:09:48:11 - 00:09:50:19
You know, like a lot of times I like,
00:09:50:19 - 00:09:52:12
I used to be in these clubhouse rooms
00:09:52:12 - 00:09:53:01
and I would hear
00:09:53:01 - 00:09:55:08
people like this discouraging people
00:09:55:08 - 00:09:58:02
so much on entry into the cannabis space.
00:09:58:02 - 00:09:59:15
And I'm like, Yes,
00:09:59:15 - 00:10:00:07
people are like,
00:10:00:07 - 00:10:01:20
Oh, you won't ever be able to get into
00:10:01:20 - 00:10:02:08
the New York
00:10:02:08 - 00:10:04:02
space is going to be too expensive.
00:10:04:02 - 00:10:05:10
There's not even any rules.
00:10:05:10 - 00:10:06:21
There's no rules to this space.
00:10:06:21 - 00:10:07:07
What do you mean
00:10:07:07 - 00:10:08:17
it's going to be too expensive?
00:10:08:17 - 00:10:09:07
You know what I mean?
00:10:09:07 - 00:10:09:11
Like,
00:10:09:11 - 00:10:10:11
there are no legislation
00:10:10:11 - 00:10:11:21
saying what that price tag is,
00:10:11:21 - 00:10:13:09
but it's all a mental psyche out
00:10:13:09 - 00:10:15:10
It's all a mental cycle.
00:10:15:10 - 00:10:16:21
I think it's a lot of trauma
00:10:16:21 - 00:10:18:19
passed down to so from.
00:10:18:19 - 00:10:19:14
Oh, sure.
00:10:19:14 - 00:10:20:06
Yeah, yeah, like
00:10:20:06 - 00:10:22:06
so like this fear has been ingrained.
00:10:22:18 - 00:10:24:05
Someone told me, OK,
00:10:24:05 - 00:10:25:05
you've got to think even with my,
00:10:25:05 - 00:10:27:03
my parents, you know, like.
00:10:27:03 - 00:10:28:01
And like
00:10:28:01 - 00:10:29:10
even on the successful with them,
00:10:29:10 - 00:10:31:06
I feel there's still like
00:10:31:06 - 00:10:32:08
like you, sure
00:10:32:08 - 00:10:33:14
you want to deal with that,
00:10:33:14 - 00:10:34:03
you know what I mean?
00:10:34:03 - 00:10:35:12
Like, it's like a mental block,
00:10:35:12 - 00:10:36:24
and I'm like, if they come for me,
00:10:36:24 - 00:10:37:20
then they got to come.
00:10:37:20 - 00:10:39:17
Everybody that's doing the same thing.
00:10:39:17 - 00:10:41:02
That's a lot of people.
00:10:41:02 - 00:10:42:11
I heard Gary B say this.
00:10:42:11 - 00:10:44:15
Like he said, our parents have been great
00:10:44:15 - 00:10:46:12
and they teach you a lot of great things
00:10:46:12 - 00:10:48:09
and I'll take your values.
00:10:48:09 - 00:10:50:11
But I'll apply my work
00:10:50:11 - 00:10:51:13
approach and ethics
00:10:51:13 - 00:10:54:12
like because we need to evolve, right?
00:10:54:12 - 00:10:55:10
Like we got to.
00:10:55:10 - 00:10:56:16
We take a lot of the values
00:10:56:16 - 00:10:57:21
about being a good person
00:10:57:21 - 00:10:59:06
about working hard.
00:10:59:06 - 00:11:01:22
Yes, but we also can't take their mindset
00:11:01:22 - 00:11:02:08
with us.
00:11:02:08 - 00:11:02:21
We'll take our.
00:11:02:21 - 00:11:05:09
Mindset, we'll take that.
00:11:05:09 - 00:11:06:07
We'll have our value,
00:11:06:07 - 00:11:07:14
we'll take their values
00:11:07:14 - 00:11:08:16
and apply our mindset.
00:11:09:17 - 00:11:10:20
And work mindset.
00:11:10:20 - 00:11:11:07
Right. Right.
00:11:11:07 - 00:11:12:10
Because their mindset is.
00:11:12:10 - 00:11:14:12
Based upon a world that they know
00:11:14:15 - 00:11:17:02
that it probably was an accurate mindset
00:11:17:02 - 00:11:19:02
to have when they were growing up.
00:11:19:02 - 00:11:20:01
It makes sense, right?
00:11:20:01 - 00:11:21:00
Just the government
00:11:21:00 - 00:11:22:15
said the same thing about the government.
00:11:22:15 - 00:11:23:09
I don't understand
00:11:23:09 - 00:11:24:13
why our government is
00:11:24:13 - 00:11:26:22
ran by 80 year olds.
00:11:26:22 - 00:11:28:01
They don't even understand
00:11:28:01 - 00:11:29:17
the technology era.
00:11:29:17 - 00:11:31:24
Like what?
00:11:32:00 - 00:11:33:21
Well, it's because we allow it.
00:11:33:21 - 00:11:35:21
The quick answer to that is that
00:11:35:21 - 00:11:38:11
when people can become more involved,
00:11:38:11 - 00:11:39:16
we'll see a change.
00:11:39:16 - 00:11:41:02
But the answer to that
00:11:41:02 - 00:11:41:20
is that 80 year
00:11:41:20 - 00:11:42:16
old and 60 year olds
00:11:42:16 - 00:11:45:04
vote and participate all the time, and.
00:11:45:04 - 00:11:46:02
We participate.
00:11:46:02 - 00:11:48:19
Sometimes and sometimes we get a power.
00:11:48:19 - 00:11:51:10
Sometimes we don't I mean that's the answer
00:11:51:10 - 00:11:52:20
I mean it's like we have.
00:11:53:24 - 00:11:54:20
But you know, back to the
00:11:54:20 - 00:11:55:19
point of that mindset,
00:11:55:19 - 00:11:56:10
I do think that's very,
00:11:56:10 - 00:11:57:02
very important
00:11:57:02 - 00:11:58:11
for us to challenge
00:11:58:11 - 00:11:59:20
the mindsets of some things
00:11:59:20 - 00:12:00:07
that were passed.
00:12:00:07 - 00:12:00:19
Again,
00:12:00:19 - 00:12:01:21
values have been great
00:12:01:21 - 00:12:02:06
in terms
00:12:02:06 - 00:12:03:07
of working hard, taking
00:12:03:07 - 00:12:05:09
care of your family, right?
00:12:05:09 - 00:12:06:13
But the mindset,
00:12:06:13 - 00:12:07:11
I'll give one example
00:12:07:11 - 00:12:08:22
that I've said before.
00:12:08:22 - 00:12:10:19
one of the mindsets that
00:12:10:19 - 00:12:11:23
black community is passed down
00:12:11:23 - 00:12:13:09
again and again and again
00:12:13:09 - 00:12:15:06
is to work twice as hard.
00:12:15:06 - 00:12:17:07
You've heard it to get what half as much?
00:12:17:07 - 00:12:19:04
I'm like, No, half as much.
00:12:19:04 - 00:12:20:09
No I;m like I work twice as hard
00:12:20:09 - 00:12:21:22
and I expect twice as much.
00:12:21:22 - 00:12:23:02
I mean, I won't be like this.
00:12:23:02 - 00:12:23:23
I mean, llet me talk to white guys.
00:12:23:23 - 00:12:25:14
They work twice as hard to expect
00:12:25:14 - 00:12:27:12
ten times as much. That's what I want
00:12:28:13 - 00:12:29:12
And then out,
00:12:29:12 - 00:12:30:21
man, I got in the Air Force.
00:12:30:21 - 00:12:32:13
Air Force taught me a whole new mantra.
00:12:32:13 - 00:12:34:19
They said, Work harder,
00:12:34:19 - 00:12:36:02
work smarter, not harder.
00:12:36:02 - 00:12:37:10
So essentially,
00:12:37:10 - 00:12:39:05
if you can make your mind, do it
00:12:39:05 - 00:12:40:07
and put it together,
00:12:40:07 - 00:12:41:03
there's no reason why
00:12:41:03 - 00:12:42:02
you should be physically
00:12:42:02 - 00:12:43:19
in the space doing it yourself, you know.
00:12:43:19 - 00:12:45:10
Amen
00:12:45:10 - 00:12:45:20
Yeah.
00:12:45:20 - 00:12:46:21
Using that mind work
00:12:46:21 - 00:12:48:08
smarter, not harder as well.
00:12:48:08 - 00:12:48:17
Yeah, I'm
00:12:48:17 - 00:12:50:00
definitely not going back to that.
00:12:50:00 - 00:12:51:05
Old mindset you know
00:12:52:05 - 00:12:52:23
You got everybody.
00:12:52:23 - 00:12:54:03
Out here and running up the check.
00:12:54:03 - 00:12:55:17
I can't do it.
00:12:56:15 - 00:12:59:24
So tell me about transitioning
00:12:59:24 - 00:13:01:23
from serving
00:13:01:23 - 00:13:04:04
in the military to being an entrepreneur.
00:13:04:22 - 00:13:05:22
It sounds like you did
00:13:05:22 - 00:13:08:06
learn some good lessons about
00:13:08:06 - 00:13:10:15
your mindset, but I imagine
00:13:10:15 - 00:13:12:10
it had to be a little bit of a challenge,
00:13:12:10 - 00:13:13:18
especially moving from
00:13:14:22 - 00:13:16:05
a military schedule where you
00:13:16:05 - 00:13:18:08
have essentially things mapped out
00:13:18:15 - 00:13:20:06
in a very structured way.
00:13:20:06 - 00:13:22:04
Then having to go out and you didn't,
00:13:22:04 - 00:13:22:23
you didn't.
00:13:22:23 - 00:13:24:13
You didn't just go get a job.
00:13:24:13 - 00:13:25:14
You went to be an entrepreneur,
00:13:25:14 - 00:13:26:23
which is really the
00:13:26:23 - 00:13:28:04
diametrically opposite
00:13:28:04 - 00:13:29:03
to having a structure.
00:13:29:03 - 00:13:30:16
It's like you, you figure out.
00:13:30:16 - 00:13:30:24
What you're structure is
00:13:30:24 - 00:13:32:13
trying to create that structure.
00:13:32:13 - 00:13:33:17
What was the challenge with that?
00:13:33:17 - 00:13:34:24
Or was it or was it
00:13:34:24 - 00:13:35:16
not a challenge
00:13:35:16 - 00:13:36:23
because you had that structure
00:13:36:23 - 00:13:37:20
kind of talk to you
00:13:37:20 - 00:13:38:23
in the military, right?
00:13:38:23 - 00:13:39:22
And that's exactly
00:13:39:22 - 00:13:40:13
what I was going to say.
00:13:40:13 - 00:13:41:03
So for me,
00:13:41:03 - 00:13:42:19
I feel like the challenge came
00:13:42:19 - 00:13:43:24
more on,
00:13:43:24 - 00:13:45:16
like figuring out the business
00:13:45:16 - 00:13:46:20
aspect of it.
00:13:46:20 - 00:13:47:23
I think the discipline
00:13:47:23 - 00:13:49:07
in putting in the hours,
00:13:49:07 - 00:13:50:15
I already kind of learned that
00:13:50:15 - 00:13:51:23
from the military
00:13:51:23 - 00:13:52:16
in the military,
00:13:52:16 - 00:13:55:13
you're taught to do more with less so
00:13:56:01 - 00:13:57:07
within business model
00:13:57:07 - 00:13:58:07
and within my business model,
00:13:58:07 - 00:13:59:16
I pretty much did the same thing.
00:13:59:16 - 00:14:00:14
And I believe that's
00:14:00:14 - 00:14:01:20
what kind of made me successful
00:14:01:20 - 00:14:02:01
within
00:14:02:01 - 00:14:03:02
My first couple of years
00:14:03:02 - 00:14:03:24
is because
00:14:03:24 - 00:14:05:21
we really did more with less
00:14:05:21 - 00:14:07:22
like I would be the dispatcher,
00:14:07:22 - 00:14:08:23
the packer,
00:14:08:23 - 00:14:10:14
the driver that dropped it off.
00:14:10:14 - 00:14:12:02
I'm everything in the beginning,
00:14:12:02 - 00:14:13:12
at least for the first year, year
00:14:13:12 - 00:14:15:13
and a half it was on me, you know,
00:14:15:13 - 00:14:16:12
and it would be so funny
00:14:16:12 - 00:14:17:18
because people would call in
00:14:17:18 - 00:14:18:15
and they're like,
00:14:18:15 - 00:14:19:04
you know, Hey,
00:14:19:04 - 00:14:20:11
I may have an issue with this product.
00:14:20:11 - 00:14:21:00
I'm like, Hold on,
00:14:21:00 - 00:14:22:16
let me get you to the manager
00:14:22:16 - 00:14:24:14
and then I'm picking back up the phone.
00:14:24:14 - 00:14:24:23
Hello.
00:14:26:02 - 00:14:26:13
Did you change.
00:14:26:13 - 00:14:27:07
Your voice like.
00:14:27:07 - 00:14:30:00
oh of course of course
00:14:30:10 - 00:14:31:15
Had to switch it up every now
00:14:31:15 - 00:14:32:03
and then
00:14:32:03 - 00:14:33:14
and change the voice
00:14:33:14 - 00:14:34:07
or pass the phone
00:14:34:07 - 00:14:36:09
to my shorty, and have my shorty talk
00:14:36:09 - 00:14:37:24
But you know, like in the beginning,
00:14:37:24 - 00:14:39:14
you got to do those different things
00:14:39:14 - 00:14:41:00
because I'm like, for me,
00:14:41:00 - 00:14:42:17
I didn't know how to create a payroll.
00:14:42:17 - 00:14:43:24
I didn't know how to create budgets
00:14:43:24 - 00:14:45:12
and things like that yet.
00:14:45:12 - 00:14:46:15
So I had to really
00:14:46:15 - 00:14:48:15
learn each aspect of the industry
00:14:48:15 - 00:14:50:02
that I was in,
00:14:50:05 - 00:14:51:21
just so that when it was time for me
00:14:51:21 - 00:14:53:09
to put people in place, couldn't
00:14:53:09 - 00:14:55:05
nobody tell me nothing crazy, you know?
00:14:55:05 - 00:14:57:20
So that transitional part was
00:14:57:20 - 00:14:59:00
that was the.
00:14:59:00 - 00:15:00:20
I don't want say. That's a challenge
00:15:00:20 - 00:15:01:05
Yeah.
00:15:01:14 - 00:15:02:09
And you know,
00:15:02:09 - 00:15:04:02
I said it on IG the other day.
00:15:04:02 - 00:15:04:14
I said, you know,
00:15:04:14 - 00:15:06:03
sometimes as entrepreneurs,
00:15:06:03 - 00:15:08:07
we make it look too easy.
00:15:08:07 - 00:15:10:18
I wish I could have like taking out
00:15:10:18 - 00:15:12:11
through that piece too
00:15:12:11 - 00:15:14:02
You know what I mean
00:15:14:02 - 00:15:15:18
ten times harder than it looks on.
00:15:15:18 - 00:15:17:23
Yeah. People out here, most people are.
00:15:17:23 - 00:15:18:06
Perfect
00:15:18:06 - 00:15:20:12
about the entrepreneurial lifestyle
00:15:20:12 - 00:15:22:12
and lied about it.
00:15:22:12 - 00:15:24:10
Yeah, it is not. It is not.
00:15:24:10 - 00:15:25:16
And I don't say that
00:15:25:16 - 00:15:27:02
to turn people away from it.
00:15:27:02 - 00:15:28:00
Because I feel like it's
00:15:28:00 - 00:15:28:18
a very freeing,
00:15:28:18 - 00:15:29:19
freeing thing,
00:15:29:19 - 00:15:31:15
but you got to know how to control it
00:15:31:15 - 00:15:32:18
and understand those freedoms
00:15:32:18 - 00:15:34:22
and know that yes, you may have freedoms,
00:15:34:22 - 00:15:35:15
but you still need
00:15:35:15 - 00:15:36:15
some sort of structure.
00:15:36:15 - 00:15:37:22
You still got to wake up every day,
00:15:37:22 - 00:15:39:12
you still got to answer the phone calls
00:15:39:12 - 00:15:41:04
and you still got to do things
00:15:41:04 - 00:15:41:24
to actually make
00:15:41:24 - 00:15:43:14
that entrepreneur lifestyle work
00:15:43:14 - 00:15:44:20
You have to be the hunter.
00:15:44:20 - 00:15:45:00
I mean,
00:15:45:00 - 00:15:45:20
I think that's the difference
00:15:45:20 - 00:15:46:12
between being
00:15:46:12 - 00:15:47:21
because you still often
00:15:47:21 - 00:15:48:23
have to work when you have a job,
00:15:48:23 - 00:15:49:16
you have a certain time,
00:15:49:16 - 00:15:51:02
but like nobody
00:15:51:02 - 00:15:52:17
is not no one else is going to figure out how
00:15:52:17 - 00:15:53:08
Nobody, nobody's.
00:15:53:08 - 00:15:55:02
Giving you that opportunity yet.
00:15:55:02 - 00:15:55:18
You know what I mean?
00:15:55:18 - 00:15:57:20
And you got to go out there and call.
00:15:57:20 - 00:15:59:15
Call, call.
00:15:59:15 - 00:16:00:18
Call pick up them phones.
00:16:00:18 - 00:16:01:24
And don't make it to where you have
00:16:01:24 - 00:16:02:23
a staff of people
00:16:02:23 - 00:16:04:02
who depend on you and people
00:16:04:02 - 00:16:05:24
you have to take care of,
00:16:05:24 - 00:16:07:06
then the stress is even more
00:16:07:06 - 00:16:09:13
because now you're the last person to eat
00:16:09:16 - 00:16:11:00
an entrepreneur.
00:16:11:00 - 00:16:11:22
Yep, I think
00:16:11:22 - 00:16:13:05
I think people forget that
00:16:13:05 - 00:16:13:21
piece like
00:16:13:21 - 00:16:14:22
I don't get my checks
00:16:14:22 - 00:16:17:11
until everybody on my team eats you know,
00:16:17:18 - 00:16:19:07
until everybody on my team eats because I know
00:16:19:07 - 00:16:20:03
and I understand that
00:16:20:03 - 00:16:21:21
that's my work force.
00:16:21:21 - 00:16:22:03
That's
00:16:22:03 - 00:16:25:02
the people who who keep me in place
00:16:25:02 - 00:16:25:24
and keep me sane
00:16:25:24 - 00:16:27:03
and make sure the operation
00:16:27:03 - 00:16:27:23
moves the way it needs to.
00:16:27:23 - 00:16:29:09
So you always want to make sure your team
00:16:29:09 - 00:16:30:10
eat first
00:16:30:10 - 00:16:30:23
and then,
00:16:30:23 - 00:16:32:07
you know, you know, in the back end,
00:16:32:07 - 00:16:34:20
sometimes that that plate ain't that big.
00:16:34:20 - 00:16:36:18
Yep, sometimes it's huge.
00:16:36:18 - 00:16:38:08
Exactly. You got it.
00:16:38:08 - 00:16:39:11
You got to roll with the punches
00:16:39:11 - 00:16:40:17
as they come.
00:16:40:17 - 00:16:41:11
Yeah.
00:16:41:17 - 00:16:43:06
What's a story or moment
00:16:43:06 - 00:16:44:14
that you can disclose?
00:16:44:14 - 00:16:46:06
Because I know you were also intelligence
00:16:47:07 - 00:16:48:03
in the military that
00:16:48:03 - 00:16:49:04
really stuck out with you.
00:16:49:04 - 00:16:49:12
Like that
00:16:49:12 - 00:16:51:05
was a maybe a transformational moment
00:16:51:05 - 00:16:53:07
that applied that you've applied
00:16:53:07 - 00:16:54:02
that through life
00:16:54:02 - 00:16:55:21
or you apply that through your business
00:16:55:21 - 00:16:56:24
if you can think of one.
00:16:56:24 - 00:16:57:16
Oh, yeah, no.
00:16:57:16 - 00:16:58:12
You know,
00:16:58:12 - 00:17:00:00
there's a time that stands out to me.
00:17:00:00 - 00:17:02:24
I went to a commander's call one time and
00:17:02:24 - 00:17:04:09
my commander brought a little rubber
00:17:04:09 - 00:17:05:13
ducky out.
00:17:05:13 - 00:17:07:01
He brought a little rubber ducky out.
00:17:07:01 - 00:17:08:15
He put it on the podium
00:17:08:15 - 00:17:11:11
and his speech was, he said, You know,
00:17:12:10 - 00:17:13:16
some people may look at this
00:17:13:16 - 00:17:15:13
and try to call it
00:17:15:13 - 00:17:19:13
a woodpecker or a bird or a, you know,
00:17:19:16 - 00:17:20:20
I call it a duck.
00:17:20:20 - 00:17:22:19
It's a rubber ducky, you know?
00:17:22:19 - 00:17:24:13
So his mantra was,
00:17:24:13 - 00:17:25:23
you call it what it is.
00:17:25:23 - 00:17:26:24
You call a duck a duck,
00:17:26:24 - 00:17:28:11
you call a spade a spade.
00:17:28:11 - 00:17:30:10
And I feel like that's helped me out
00:17:30:10 - 00:17:32:04
throughout my business and personal life
00:17:32:04 - 00:17:34:11
because you cut a lot of the minutia out.
00:17:34:13 - 00:17:35:01
You know,
00:17:35:01 - 00:17:35:23
a lot of times
00:17:35:23 - 00:17:38:04
things can be handled when you go direct
00:17:38:04 - 00:17:40:15
and you have those direct conversations.
00:17:40:15 - 00:17:41:07
And in business,
00:17:41:07 - 00:17:42:23
sometimes those are those conversations
00:17:42:23 - 00:17:44:05
that are the hardest
00:17:44:05 - 00:17:45:14
that people don't like to have.
00:17:45:14 - 00:17:47:07
But you call a duck a duck,
00:17:47:07 - 00:17:49:19
you know, as the boss, sometimes
00:17:49:19 - 00:17:50:17
even if his family
00:17:50:17 - 00:17:52:12
like I've had family work for me,
00:17:52:12 - 00:17:54:14
my sisters probably hate me right now.
00:17:54:19 - 00:17:56:05
They love me but
00:17:56:05 - 00:17:56:22
at the beginning,
00:17:56:22 - 00:17:58:13
like one of my, my very close
00:17:58:13 - 00:17:59:14
sister was working with me.
00:17:59:14 - 00:18:01:04
She was like, my, you know.
00:18:01:04 - 00:18:03:03
My right hand. Yeah you know I don't do family in business too much
00:18:03:03 - 00:18:04:21
My mother works there, My mother works only
00:18:04:21 - 00:18:06:17
because she's like my accountant,
00:18:06:17 - 00:18:08:20
but like, she's helped me but like. Right?
00:18:08:20 - 00:18:09:09
My but
00:18:09:09 - 00:18:09:23
but that's only because
00:18:09:23 - 00:18:11:08
she's my accountant for support, really.
00:18:11:08 - 00:18:12:11
She she's just doing it to help.
00:18:12:11 - 00:18:14:14
But like beyond that.
00:18:14:14 - 00:18:16:03
I don't know if you it's tough tough
00:18:16:03 - 00:18:18:09
and and you got to do that as the boss,
00:18:18:09 - 00:18:19:19
you got to call a duck a duck
00:18:19:19 - 00:18:20:17
if it doesn't work.
00:18:21:17 - 00:18:22:05
You can't.
00:18:22:05 - 00:18:23:01
You can't keep.
00:18:23:01 - 00:18:23:24
So you had to fire family.
00:18:23:24 - 00:18:25:20
Oh, for sure. For sure.
00:18:25:20 - 00:18:27:22
Yes, for sure.
00:18:27:24 - 00:18:29:08
I've had to fire family
00:18:29:08 - 00:18:30:00
Like I love you,
00:18:30:00 - 00:18:30:18
but you got to she going to see this
00:18:30:18 - 00:18:31:21
interview and be like,
00:18:31:21 - 00:18:33:08
Oh my God,
00:18:33:08 - 00:18:34:09
I love you, but we can't love you.
00:18:34:09 - 00:18:35:11
But like you.
00:18:35:11 - 00:18:36:11
That's how businesses
00:18:36:11 - 00:18:38:00
end up failing, though, right?
00:18:38:00 - 00:18:39:11
If you can't like
00:18:39:11 - 00:18:40:23
you can support your family like
00:18:40:23 - 00:18:41:18
this is the reason why I could
00:18:41:18 - 00:18:42:19
support you.
00:18:42:19 - 00:18:43:07
But like,
00:18:43:07 - 00:18:44:16
what you can't do is have someone.
00:18:44:16 - 00:18:46:03
Nobody's above the business
00:18:46:03 - 00:18:47:22
No yeah, nobody's above the business.
00:18:47:22 - 00:18:48:21
And that's a mantra
00:18:48:21 - 00:18:50:08
that we have on our walls.
00:18:50:08 - 00:18:51:22
Like, nobody's not even me.
00:18:51:22 - 00:18:52:07
You know,
00:18:52:07 - 00:18:53:23
even the person who created it, like,
00:18:53:23 - 00:18:56:04
if I'm in the way somebody's going to need
00:18:56:04 - 00:18:56:14
to tell me
00:18:56:14 - 00:18:57:22
I need to step out the way
00:18:57:22 - 00:18:58:10
to make sure
00:18:58:10 - 00:18:59:10
that the process moves
00:18:59:10 - 00:19:01:10
to that next level .
00:19:01:10 - 00:19:03:00
And that's what I built my team on.
00:19:03:00 - 00:19:03:13
That's what I built
00:19:03:13 - 00:19:04:11
the company on is
00:19:04:11 - 00:19:05:24
we call a duck a duck
00:19:05:24 - 00:19:07:16
that nobody's bigger than the business,
00:19:07:16 - 00:19:08:01
you know,
00:19:08:01 - 00:19:09:16
because this is how we plan on feeding generations
00:19:09:16 - 00:19:11:08
and generations and generations
00:19:11:08 - 00:19:13:12
and creating that generational wealth.
00:19:13:13 - 00:19:14:14
So we want to make sure
00:19:14:14 - 00:19:16:06
that we keep that intact.
00:19:16:06 - 00:19:19:18
So you I'm not the CEO, you know, Miss Ayana Young
00:19:19:18 - 00:19:20:02
00:19:20:02 - 00:19:21:09
She's our CEO,
00:19:21:09 - 00:19:22:23
so she does a lot of the regulating
00:19:22:23 - 00:19:25:04
She's the one that puts on that top hat.
00:19:25:04 - 00:19:27:01
What it means to you know
00:19:27:01 - 00:19:29:15
But we've built this team out to be this,
00:19:29:15 - 00:19:30:06
you know, for me,
00:19:30:06 - 00:19:30:17
like I said,
00:19:30:17 - 00:19:31:09
I started off
00:19:31:09 - 00:19:34:00
as just in my garage, literally
00:19:34:10 - 00:19:34:22
being the one
00:19:34:22 - 00:19:36:11
packing the product, put in the product,
00:19:36:11 - 00:19:37:13
talking to the customer,
00:19:37:13 - 00:19:38:20
doing everything.
00:19:38:20 - 00:19:40:05
And then we've kind of expanded it
00:19:40:05 - 00:19:41:12
to now.
00:19:41:12 - 00:19:44:15
We have it to where it's like women.
00:19:44:20 - 00:19:46:15
It's like a woman led
00:19:46:15 - 00:19:49:03
business, which I'm all for.
00:19:49:04 - 00:19:50:18
You know, I have five sisters
00:19:51:20 - 00:19:52:15
and then Miss Ayana Young
00:19:52:15 - 00:19:53:12
Wow.
00:19:53:12 - 00:19:55:18
That's why you.. I have two older sisters.
00:19:55:18 - 00:19:57:01
So yeah, yeah.
00:19:57:01 - 00:19:57:21
And then I know,
00:19:57:21 - 00:19:59:10
you know, women, just they they
00:19:59:10 - 00:20:00:03
they got that.
00:20:00:03 - 00:20:02:01
They know that they know me.
00:20:02:01 - 00:20:03:14
I play the operation role
00:20:03:14 - 00:20:05:09
like I'm more hands on.
00:20:05:09 - 00:20:06:19
I can get things done, but.
00:20:06:19 - 00:20:07:07
You and I are opposite I'm a CEO.
00:20:07:07 - 00:20:09:02
Like keeping things in order.
00:20:09:02 - 00:20:11:06
Yeah, yeah. Yeah. Oh, you like the CEO feeling
00:20:11:08 - 00:20:12:23
Yeah, yeah, that's more my thing.
00:20:12:23 - 00:20:14:06
And yeah, yeah.
00:20:14:08 - 00:20:14:14
Yeah.
00:20:14:14 - 00:20:15:23
I like that operation side.
00:20:15:23 - 00:20:16:24
I like to split it off.
00:20:16:24 - 00:20:18:10
Like that makes sense
00:20:18:10 - 00:20:19:22
Kind of make everything,
00:20:19:22 - 00:20:20:14
you know, work
00:20:20:14 - 00:20:21:16
how I need to work in,
00:20:21:16 - 00:20:22:13
and then I'll make sure
00:20:22:13 - 00:20:24:17
that we can bring the money to the door.
00:20:24:17 - 00:20:25:10
Well, that's important.
00:20:25:10 - 00:20:27:01
Usually a CEO does that
00:20:27:01 - 00:20:29:01
Like that's an interesting paradigm.
00:20:29:02 - 00:20:30:23
So what's a
00:20:31:24 - 00:20:34:07
what's some advice
00:20:34:07 - 00:20:36:06
you would give your younger self
00:20:36:06 - 00:20:37:06
knowing that things you know
00:20:37:06 - 00:20:39:09
now it can be before
00:20:39:09 - 00:20:42:04
the business, before your
00:20:42:04 - 00:20:43:23
your service in the Air Force?
00:20:43:23 - 00:20:47:02
And what advice would you ignore?
00:20:47:13 - 00:20:49:01
That's a good one
00:20:49:04 - 00:20:52:05
So what advice would I give myself?
00:20:52:05 - 00:20:53:21
Honestly, you know, the younger me,
00:20:53:21 - 00:20:54:23
I would have probably told myself
00:20:54:23 - 00:20:55:24
to save more.
00:20:55:24 - 00:20:56:19
You know,
00:20:56:19 - 00:20:58:10
my dad passed away when I was young,
00:20:58:10 - 00:21:01:04
so I had a lot of money at a young age
00:21:01:04 - 00:21:02:12
just from
00:21:02:22 - 00:21:04:19
my Pops passing away.
00:21:04:19 - 00:21:05:12
You know, so
00:21:05:12 - 00:21:06:05
it should have put me
00:21:06:05 - 00:21:08:24
in a better situation, but it didn't.
00:21:09:01 - 00:21:10:16
You know, I was young and dumb
00:21:10:16 - 00:21:11:22
and I blew it.
00:21:11:22 - 00:21:14:11
So essentially, I went to the military
00:21:15:02 - 00:21:16:09
because I was tired of paying
00:21:16:09 - 00:21:17:11
for school out of pocket
00:21:17:11 - 00:21:18:15
and running out of money
00:21:18:15 - 00:21:19:09
and stuff like that.
00:21:19:09 - 00:21:20:22
So I think for me,
00:21:20:22 - 00:21:21:24
I would tell my younger self
00:21:21:24 - 00:21:23:01
to just slow down a little bit
00:21:23:01 - 00:21:24:23
and save a little bit more.
00:21:24:23 - 00:21:25:23
It could have probably saved me
00:21:25:23 - 00:21:26:11
a lot of little
00:21:26:11 - 00:21:27:11
headaches throughout the way
00:21:27:11 - 00:21:29:14
but I feel like those kind of made me who
00:21:29:14 - 00:21:30:08
I am as well.
00:21:30:08 - 00:21:32:09
So sometimes I wouldn't
00:21:32:09 - 00:21:33:05
want to change that
00:21:33:05 - 00:21:36:08
and what's some good advice.
00:21:36:21 - 00:21:38:04
Oh I didn't say good advice
00:21:38:04 - 00:21:38:16
advice you would ignore
00:21:38:16 - 00:21:40:10
people give all types of advice.
00:21:40:10 - 00:21:41:00
Right?
00:21:41:02 - 00:21:43:00
So I didn't say it was good.
00:21:43:00 - 00:21:43:22
Oh, OK.
00:21:43:22 - 00:21:45:13
So the advice that I would, I would
00:21:45:13 - 00:21:46:05
I would recommend
00:21:46:05 - 00:21:46:19
everybody
00:21:46:19 - 00:21:49:09
ignore is the fear in advice like,
00:21:49:10 - 00:21:50:17
you gonna have 1,000,000 people
00:21:50:17 - 00:21:52:21
that you tell your idea to one,
00:21:52:21 - 00:21:55:02
and I only speak about my idea once.
00:21:55:02 - 00:21:56:03
Like, that's another
00:21:56:03 - 00:21:57:03
good thing I tell people to.
00:21:57:03 - 00:21:58:16
The more you talk about something,
00:21:58:16 - 00:22:00:01
the more you start fantasizing
00:22:00:01 - 00:22:01:04
that you're actually doing it
00:22:01:04 - 00:22:02:03
and you're not,
00:22:02:03 - 00:22:02:14
you know,
00:22:02:14 - 00:22:03:17
you speak about it once
00:22:03:17 - 00:22:04:20
and you put a plan in place
00:22:04:20 - 00:22:06:00
to actually do it.
00:22:06:00 - 00:22:07:05
And then as you do it,
00:22:07:05 - 00:22:09:07
you can kind of see like, you know, your
00:22:09:11 - 00:22:10:14
your ins and outs.
00:22:10:14 - 00:22:11:20
So I would stay away
00:22:11:20 - 00:22:13:06
from the fear speech.
00:22:13:06 - 00:22:16:08
You know, one time I told one of my
00:22:16:23 - 00:22:18:20
ex friends about an idea
00:22:18:20 - 00:22:19:20
that I wanted to do,
00:22:19:20 - 00:22:20:18
they started placing
00:22:20:18 - 00:22:22:22
kind of like their fears on me,
00:22:22:22 - 00:22:23:22
which made me.
00:22:23:22 - 00:22:24:20
Then, you know,
00:22:24:20 - 00:22:27:05
look at the industry like, should I?
00:22:27:05 - 00:22:28:01
Should I not?
00:22:28:01 - 00:22:30:14
You know, I almost missed out on a bag
00:22:30:14 - 00:22:32:14
because they weighed their fears on me,
00:22:32:14 - 00:22:33:16
you know, so
00:22:33:16 - 00:22:34:13
I would just watch out
00:22:34:13 - 00:22:35:17
for the fear speech
00:22:35:17 - 00:22:37:22
and then everybody has their opinion.
00:22:37:22 - 00:22:38:20
Leave it at that.
00:22:38:20 - 00:22:40:07
Let that be their opinion.
00:22:40:07 - 00:22:41:15
And you feel like you're
00:22:41:15 - 00:22:43:10
if you have mapped out this goal
00:22:43:10 - 00:22:45:06
and one plus one equals two,
00:22:45:06 - 00:22:46:17
then you need to go ahead and explore
00:22:46:17 - 00:22:47:13
how to get one
00:22:47:13 - 00:22:49:13
and plus one and to make it two.
00:22:50:06 - 00:22:50:15
Yeah,
00:22:51:18 - 00:22:53:03
I really want to talk about the point
00:22:53:03 - 00:22:55:06
you made with the ex-friend.
00:22:55:06 - 00:22:57:15
You had that put their fears on you.
00:22:57:15 - 00:22:59:18
Would I talk to anybody about success?
00:23:00:05 - 00:23:01:16
I say the most important ingredient.
00:23:01:16 - 00:23:02:24
one of them is the people.
00:23:02:24 - 00:23:04:20
You surround yourself with,
00:23:04:20 - 00:23:06:18
the people you surround yourself with
00:23:06:18 - 00:23:07:09
are really going
00:23:07:09 - 00:23:08:11
to determine your future.
00:23:08:11 - 00:23:10:11
Your future period. Oh, that's.
00:23:10:12 - 00:23:10:18
Because, right?
00:23:10:18 - 00:23:12:22
Because in scientific studies
00:23:12:22 - 00:23:14:09
have shown the people that are around
00:23:14:09 - 00:23:16:10
you literally
00:23:16:10 - 00:23:18:05
Rewire your brain.
00:23:18:05 - 00:23:19:07
So if you go on
00:23:19:07 - 00:23:21:05
and try to say you're in an environment
00:23:21:05 - 00:23:23:05
that you think you disagree with
00:23:23:05 - 00:23:23:22
and everybody just
00:23:23:22 - 00:23:24:22
has these crazy beliefs
00:23:24:22 - 00:23:26:03
and you go in every single day
00:23:26:03 - 00:23:27:07
with the resistance of
00:23:27:07 - 00:23:28:06
I'm going to keep
00:23:28:06 - 00:23:30:08
the way I feel I'm going to do this.
00:23:30:23 - 00:23:32:07
Science says otherwise that
00:23:32:07 - 00:23:33:21
no matter how hard you try.
00:23:33:21 - 00:23:35:03
Eventually,
00:23:35:03 - 00:23:37:07
your beliefs will start to conform
00:23:37:07 - 00:23:38:00
with a group
00:23:38:00 - 00:23:39:21
without you even realizing it.
00:23:39:21 - 00:23:41:11
Because people, people affect us.
00:23:41:11 - 00:23:42:21
We're tribal by nature.
00:23:42:21 - 00:23:44:18
So if you're hanging around
00:23:44:18 - 00:23:46:24
hanging around, losers, if you got.
00:23:47:00 - 00:23:48:03
If you got eight loosers,
00:23:48:03 - 00:23:49:16
You're going to be the ninth
00:23:49:16 - 00:23:51:20
And I think I feel like.
00:23:52:01 - 00:23:53:23
He also said that if you hang around ten broke negros
00:23:53:23 - 00:23:55:18
You're going to be the 11th like.
00:23:55:18 - 00:23:57:17
Because that's how it works!
00:23:57:17 - 00:23:58:08
And then the thing
00:23:58:08 - 00:23:59:12
is, that's how you elevate
00:23:59:12 - 00:23:59:24
as well as
00:23:59:24 - 00:24:01:08
you've got to elevate your circle.
00:24:01:08 - 00:24:02:20
Because what I've learned
00:24:02:20 - 00:24:04:05
is like my circle
00:24:04:05 - 00:24:05:12
that I had in high school
00:24:05:12 - 00:24:07:02
isn't the same circle I had in college
00:24:07:02 - 00:24:07:21
isn't the same circle
00:24:07:21 - 00:24:08:17
I had in the Air
00:24:08:17 - 00:24:09:06
Force isn't
00:24:09:06 - 00:24:10:14
the same circle that I have now
00:24:10:14 - 00:24:12:03
is that as an adult
00:24:12:03 - 00:24:14:04
and I need to, as an adult,
00:24:14:05 - 00:24:15:24
figure out how to get from that.
00:24:15:24 - 00:24:18:00
I know now you have 4 million,
00:24:18:00 - 00:24:19:03
how do you get to 10 million?
00:24:19:03 - 00:24:20:14
How do you get to 20 million?
00:24:20:14 - 00:24:22:07
And it's about all about the circles
00:24:22:07 - 00:24:23:15
that you surround yourself with.
00:24:23:15 - 00:24:25:13
Because those opportunities
00:24:25:13 - 00:24:27:08
Come up within those circles sometimes.
00:24:27:08 - 00:24:29:10
So and people get this twisted
00:24:29:14 - 00:24:30:17
And people get it twisted like,
00:24:30:17 - 00:24:32:00
Oh, are you saying cut off family?
00:24:32:00 - 00:24:32:13
I'll only say
00:24:32:13 - 00:24:34:14
cut off family if tthey're toxic
00:24:34:14 - 00:24:34:24
right, right?
00:24:34:24 - 00:24:35:23
Because they're toxic
00:24:35:23 - 00:24:38:04
if they're toxic, like the family.
00:24:38:04 - 00:24:39:21
But like that, we ain't like that.
00:24:39:21 - 00:24:40:18
It's too stressful,
00:24:41:17 - 00:24:42:17
too stressful.
00:24:42:17 - 00:24:43:20
Like life is too stressful
00:24:43:20 - 00:24:45:05
even if you're not and entrepreneur.
00:24:45:05 - 00:24:47:17
Like being around toxic people.
00:24:47:22 - 00:24:50:02
Where's energy is.
00:24:50:02 - 00:24:52:18
Real right? And we only have
00:24:52:23 - 00:24:55:04
and it's finite. We don't.
00:24:55:08 - 00:24:56:18
Not you. Not me.
00:24:56:18 - 00:24:57:11
We don't have an
00:24:57:11 - 00:24:58:15
infinite amount of energy.
00:24:58:15 - 00:24:59:08
We're not God.
00:24:59:08 - 00:25:01:09
So like people come to us
00:25:01:09 - 00:25:02:14
and their emotional energy,
00:25:02:14 - 00:25:03:08
it drags on us.
00:25:03:08 - 00:25:03:23
They're negative,
00:25:03:23 - 00:25:05:14
their mental energy.
00:25:05:14 - 00:25:07:04
And if the relationship isn't one
00:25:07:04 - 00:25:07:19
that's building you
00:25:07:19 - 00:25:08:13
in some way, like to me,
00:25:08:13 - 00:25:10:12
it also doesn't have to be all about
00:25:10:12 - 00:25:11:19
Let's be very clear,
00:25:11:19 - 00:25:12:13
all my relationships
00:25:12:13 - 00:25:13:12
don't have to be like,
00:25:13:12 - 00:25:15:17
you're helping me in economic way.
00:25:15:17 - 00:25:16:23
There are other ways to help.
00:25:16:23 - 00:25:17:20
And support, right?
00:25:17:20 - 00:25:19:13
You can help emotionally support
00:25:19:13 - 00:25:20:09
like all those things.
00:25:20:09 - 00:25:22:18
But if it's not about uplifting
00:25:22:18 - 00:25:25:06
and moving in some positive direction,
00:25:25:06 - 00:25:26:10
if if it's not,
00:25:26:10 - 00:25:26:20
if that's not
00:25:26:20 - 00:25:28:13
the dynamic of the relationship,
00:25:28:13 - 00:25:30:14
why do I have the relationship right?
00:25:30:23 - 00:25:31:13
No, no, no.
00:25:31:13 - 00:25:32:19
And that's absolutely fact
00:25:32:19 - 00:25:34:13
because you got to evaluate that,
00:25:34:13 - 00:25:36:21
especially for me, like, I'm an empath,
00:25:36:22 - 00:25:38:10
so I like to help people.
00:25:38:10 - 00:25:39:08
I like to like,
00:25:39:08 - 00:25:40:07
put people in position
00:25:40:07 - 00:25:42:14
and try to put people in place to win.
00:25:42:24 - 00:25:44:08
And a lot of times
00:25:44:08 - 00:25:46:15
those energies aren't always the best.
00:25:47:03 - 00:25:48:04
And me as an empath,
00:25:48:04 - 00:25:50:15
I need people who can actually feed
00:25:50:15 - 00:25:52:02
that piece of me mentally,
00:25:52:02 - 00:25:54:03
you know, like mentally stimulate me
00:25:54:23 - 00:25:55:16
that that's
00:25:55:16 - 00:25:57:07
what kind of gets you to that next level
00:25:57:07 - 00:25:58:19
because our minds are always
00:25:58:19 - 00:25:59:22
thinking, always working,
00:25:59:22 - 00:26:00:15
always trying to figure out
00:26:00:15 - 00:26:02:22
what that next move is to make sure that,
00:26:02:22 - 00:26:04:05
you know, we get to that next level.
00:26:04:05 - 00:26:05:05
So you always want somebody
00:26:05:05 - 00:26:06:06
feeding that machine
00:26:06:06 - 00:26:08:08
with positivity, that energy,
00:26:08:08 - 00:26:09:15
because you do give out a lot
00:26:09:15 - 00:26:10:17
and you're absolutely right.
00:26:10:17 - 00:26:11:16
It's not a situation
00:26:11:16 - 00:26:13:17
where you have infinite energy.
00:26:13:17 - 00:26:14:08
No.
00:26:14:08 - 00:26:15:02
So Kern,
00:26:15:02 - 00:26:15:20
what does
00:26:15:20 - 00:26:17:19
what does the next level look like
00:26:17:19 - 00:26:18:23
for higher collection? Like what?
00:26:18:23 - 00:26:21:08
What does the journey look like?
00:26:21:08 - 00:26:21:18
There's no.
00:26:21:18 - 00:26:23:18
Ultimate success path in terms of like.
00:26:23:19 - 00:26:24:07
Right here.
00:26:24:07 - 00:26:25:01
In this success,
00:26:25:01 - 00:26:27:01
but five or ten years from now,
00:26:27:01 - 00:26:28:16
what would what would you.
00:26:28:16 - 00:26:29:19
Feel.
00:26:29:19 - 00:26:31:11
Is success for you
00:26:31:11 - 00:26:33:19
in that moment in terms of your journey?
00:26:33:19 - 00:26:35:22
So for me, I feel like within five
00:26:36:15 - 00:26:37:12
to ten years,
00:26:37:12 - 00:26:39:19
I would love to have like a space.
00:26:39:19 - 00:26:41:07
I would love to have a school,
00:26:42:06 - 00:26:42:24
a transitional
00:26:42:24 - 00:26:45:24
school space that teaches shows people
00:26:45:24 - 00:26:47:18
how to do things that you know,
00:26:47:18 - 00:26:49:05
we weren't traditionally taught
00:26:49:05 - 00:26:50:09
like for me.
00:26:50:09 - 00:26:51:20
I also own cattle.
00:26:51:20 - 00:26:53:24
I have a whole farming side to me
00:26:54:13 - 00:26:56:16
that I farming of no.
00:26:56:16 - 00:26:57:15
Yeah, I wouldn't have.
00:26:57:15 - 00:26:58:18
Known unless you got a farm
00:26:58:18 - 00:27:00:06
in California, you got.
00:27:00:06 - 00:27:01:11
Oh yeah, yeah, yeah, 20
00:27:01:11 - 00:27:03:09
acres, 20 acres with cattle as well.
00:27:03:09 - 00:27:05:06
Yeah, yeah. Yeah, yeah.
00:27:05:06 - 00:27:06:19
OK. Yes.
00:27:06:19 - 00:27:08:00
So, you know, for me,
00:27:08:00 - 00:27:08:07
I wouldn't
00:27:08:07 - 00:27:10:04
even know anything about that until,
00:27:10:04 - 00:27:11:04
you know, shout out to Mr.
00:27:11:04 - 00:27:13:16
Cleveland, my black rancher mentor.
00:27:14:16 - 00:27:16:20
He put me on in 2016.
00:27:16:20 - 00:27:17:16
He was like, You know what?
00:27:17:16 - 00:27:18:21
I need you to go get a brand,
00:27:18:21 - 00:27:19:24
go get your cattle brand.
00:27:19:24 - 00:27:20:13
So you know,
00:27:20:13 - 00:27:21:13
we have our own brand
00:27:21:13 - 00:27:23:10
that goes on our cattle.
00:27:23:10 - 00:27:24:22
He said for tax purposes,
00:27:24:22 - 00:27:26:13
I need you to get into
00:27:26:13 - 00:27:28:05
into the agriculture industry
00:27:28:05 - 00:27:29:14
because what the government will do
00:27:29:14 - 00:27:31:22
is pay you to feed people.
00:27:32:18 - 00:27:34:08
And he has not
00:27:34:08 - 00:27:36:21
he has not shown me anything wrong since.
00:27:36:21 - 00:27:37:17
So what I want to do is
00:27:37:17 - 00:27:39:08
I want to create an atmosphere
00:27:39:08 - 00:27:41:01
that can give this knowledge
00:27:41:01 - 00:27:41:19
to other people
00:27:41:19 - 00:27:43:11
because if you're not in the room,
00:27:43:11 - 00:27:45:02
you don't understand that the government
00:27:45:02 - 00:27:46:20
will give you a loan of up
00:27:46:20 - 00:27:48:24
to 300,000 for equipment.
00:27:48:24 - 00:27:51:02
You pay over 40 to 60 years.
00:27:51:14 - 00:27:53:06
Oh, they'll give you.
00:27:53:06 - 00:27:54:14
They'll give you
00:27:54:14 - 00:27:57:21
up to $2 million to purchase farmland
00:27:58:05 - 00:27:59:21
as long as you put it into production
00:27:59:21 - 00:28:01:20
within a certain amount of time.
00:28:01:20 - 00:28:02:21
Agriculture is kind of
00:28:02:21 - 00:28:05:00
like the backbone to the United States,
00:28:05:00 - 00:28:06:17
so a lot of times
00:28:06:17 - 00:28:07:11
I want to teach
00:28:07:11 - 00:28:09:12
people just the knowledge that I've known
00:28:09:12 - 00:28:10:06
and then put people
00:28:10:06 - 00:28:11:13
within the space
00:28:11:13 - 00:28:13:19
that can teach people more knowledge,
00:28:13:19 - 00:28:14:02
you know,
00:28:14:02 - 00:28:15:15
because that's really what it's about.
00:28:15:15 - 00:28:17:04
You don't know what you do not know.
00:28:17:04 - 00:28:19:01
So I'm hoping within the next five
00:28:19:01 - 00:28:19:17
or ten years,
00:28:19:17 - 00:28:21:00
I have a space where
00:28:21:00 - 00:28:23:03
we can actually teach people
00:28:23:03 - 00:28:24:07
what it is they need to know,
00:28:24:07 - 00:28:25:12
you know, probably help out
00:28:25:12 - 00:28:27:07
some of our homeless veterans,
00:28:27:07 - 00:28:28:16
bring them within a space,
00:28:28:16 - 00:28:30:08
get them into a transitional program
00:28:30:08 - 00:28:31:06
that can kind of ease
00:28:31:06 - 00:28:33:07
some of our infrastructure issues.
00:28:33:07 - 00:28:34:16
I don't know if you've seen lately
00:28:34:16 - 00:28:35:13
at the ports,
00:28:35:13 - 00:28:37:20
you know, people are backed up almost
00:28:37:20 - 00:28:39:09
three, four or five days
00:28:39:09 - 00:28:40:13
waiting for trucks
00:28:40:13 - 00:28:42:05
to get loaded up and stuff like that.
00:28:42:05 - 00:28:42:24
You know,
00:28:43:05 - 00:28:44:20
I feel like the veteran population
00:28:44:20 - 00:28:47:11
was used to fight war overseas.
00:28:47:11 - 00:28:49:04
Now we have a huge war
00:28:49:04 - 00:28:50:04
kind of going on here
00:28:50:04 - 00:28:50:23
in the United States,
00:28:50:23 - 00:28:53:24
where you have ships actually circling
00:28:53:24 - 00:28:55:08
and in the sea,
00:28:55:08 - 00:28:56:24
like in the Pacific Ocean,
00:28:56:24 - 00:28:58:15
just because they don't have any place
00:28:58:15 - 00:29:01:05
to come and offload on the West Coast.
00:29:01:05 - 00:29:01:14
So.
00:29:03:02 - 00:29:03:24
Things like that.
00:29:03:24 - 00:29:04:11
Wow.
00:29:04:11 - 00:29:05:10
Yeah, and it's all about
00:29:05:10 - 00:29:06:16
and it's all about workforce,
00:29:06:16 - 00:29:07:02
you know,
00:29:07:02 - 00:29:08:24
the workforce is become an issue,
00:29:08:24 - 00:29:10:13
so we want to champion that.
00:29:10:13 - 00:29:11:03
We want to
00:29:11:06 - 00:29:12:06
we want to get ahead of it
00:29:12:06 - 00:29:14:04
because we see it being an issue.
00:29:14:04 - 00:29:15:17
You see, everybody's talking about going
00:29:15:17 - 00:29:17:05
autonomous now like, you know,
00:29:17:05 - 00:29:19:11
starting to put robots in place
00:29:19:11 - 00:29:21:15
and self-driving vehicles and,
00:29:21:15 - 00:29:21:22
you know,
00:29:21:22 - 00:29:23:07
trying to get rid of the workforce.
00:29:23:07 - 00:29:25:08
But we know what America was built on.
00:29:25:08 - 00:29:26:15
You know what I mean?
00:29:26:15 - 00:29:29:02
So no, I agree with you and I'm
00:29:30:01 - 00:29:30:18
part of why I'm in.
00:29:30:18 - 00:29:31:22
Web3 is the power people
00:29:31:22 - 00:29:33:06
we have similar.
00:29:33:06 - 00:29:35:12
Our hows are different, but our whys
00:29:36:00 - 00:29:36:20
pretty much the same.
00:29:36:20 - 00:29:38:21
It's about empowering people.
00:29:38:24 - 00:29:41:06
And I just got through
00:29:41:06 - 00:29:42:01
with a really good book.
00:29:42:01 - 00:29:45:00
And if you got it's called Homo Deus
00:29:45:00 - 00:29:46:02
I don't like everything
00:29:46:02 - 00:29:47:24
he says at the beginning
00:29:47:24 - 00:29:48:23
about everything,
00:29:48:23 - 00:29:49:16
but he's very good
00:29:49:16 - 00:29:50:21
in terms of talking about like,
00:29:50:21 - 00:29:51:09
this is a
00:29:51:09 - 00:29:51:15
it's called
00:29:51:15 - 00:29:53:00
a brief history of the future.
00:29:53:00 - 00:29:54:18
About where we could go
00:29:54:18 - 00:29:57:14
and that's about it is about
00:29:58:16 - 00:29:59:17
A.I.
00:29:59:17 - 00:30:00:17
and about the fact that,
00:30:00:17 - 00:30:03:09
you know, there's the new religion around
00:30:03:21 - 00:30:04:23
data science, that
00:30:04:23 - 00:30:06:03
that religion is everything
00:30:06:03 - 00:30:06:24
and that not a religion.
00:30:06:24 - 00:30:08:04
That data is everything.
00:30:08:04 - 00:30:09:09
And that is. Everything.
00:30:09:09 - 00:30:09:22
Right? Right.
00:30:09:22 - 00:30:10:15
It is in a way,
00:30:10:15 - 00:30:11:23
but they do it as such
00:30:11:23 - 00:30:14:03
and such as is a religion right?
00:30:14:03 - 00:30:16:17
That is data the most important
00:30:16:17 - 00:30:18:18
and that is data more important.
00:30:18:18 - 00:30:20:00
Is that the most important thing
00:30:20:00 - 00:30:21:11
for us for as humans?
00:30:21:11 - 00:30:23:19
The second question is, is
00:30:23:19 - 00:30:27:02
it more important to have intelligence
00:30:27:02 - 00:30:29:15
or to be conscious?
00:30:29:15 - 00:30:30:06
And that's important
00:30:30:06 - 00:30:30:22
because of what
00:30:30:22 - 00:30:31:23
the scientific community
00:30:31:23 - 00:30:35:06
now is decoupling those two to say.
00:30:35:06 - 00:30:37:08
Oh they are. They making it two seperate,
00:30:37:23 - 00:30:38:21
We just need intelligence
00:30:38:21 - 00:30:40:16
and we can use machines for that.
00:30:40:16 - 00:30:42:23
And the third is what happens when
00:30:44:11 - 00:30:45:22
these systems,
00:30:45:22 - 00:30:46:18
these
00:30:46:18 - 00:30:48:01
artificial intelligence systems
00:30:48:01 - 00:30:49:04
and organizations know
00:30:49:04 - 00:30:51:08
more about ourselves than we do.
00:30:51:22 - 00:30:52:20
And what happens to humanity
00:30:52:20 - 00:30:53:13
at that point, right,
00:30:53:13 - 00:30:55:11
and how much control to give them anyway?
00:30:55:11 - 00:30:57:02
I get into that that to say that,
00:30:57:02 - 00:30:57:08
you know,
00:30:57:08 - 00:30:58:12
we have to be involved
00:30:58:12 - 00:30:59:14
and aware of what's going on
00:30:59:14 - 00:31:02:03
because innovation is not slowing down.
00:31:02:03 - 00:31:04:10
I do think a lot of jobs will be.
00:31:04:10 - 00:31:05:14
I'm not championing this,
00:31:05:14 - 00:31:06:16
but I'm just human.
00:31:06:16 - 00:31:07:24
Nature will be automated.
00:31:07:24 - 00:31:09:08
Perhaps a bunch of new industries
00:31:09:08 - 00:31:11:06
will be created on top of that,
00:31:11:06 - 00:31:11:24
but maybe not.
00:31:11:24 - 00:31:14:05
We've also never seen.
00:31:14:05 - 00:31:16:08
Such rapid change so fast,
00:31:16:15 - 00:31:18:09
and we've never seen traditionally
00:31:18:09 - 00:31:20:05
the jobs that have been replaced
00:31:20:05 - 00:31:21:18
have been manual labor
00:31:21:18 - 00:31:23:08
to have us replace it,
00:31:23:08 - 00:31:24:23
to use our brains more.
00:31:24:23 - 00:31:26:20
But what happens when
00:31:26:20 - 00:31:27:17
artificial intelligence
00:31:27:17 - 00:31:29:18
can they think for us?
00:31:29:18 - 00:31:30:12
Then what happens?
00:31:30:12 - 00:31:31:00
Right?
00:31:31:05 - 00:31:32:18
Like, it's like, No, and that's fact,
00:31:32:18 - 00:31:33:19
as you know.
00:31:33:19 - 00:31:34:19
Because you got to even think
00:31:34:19 - 00:31:36:07
like in the metaverse to like,
00:31:36:07 - 00:31:36:14
you know,
00:31:36:14 - 00:31:38:02
I've just started getting more
00:31:38:02 - 00:31:40:01
and more into the metaverse and I'm way.
00:31:40:01 - 00:31:41:11
This is you could literally.
00:31:41:11 - 00:31:43:04
I had a meeting in a metaverse the other day
00:31:43:04 - 00:31:45:13
when they went into a meeting room.
00:31:45:13 - 00:31:46:07
In Oculous
00:31:46:07 - 00:31:47:11
Oculus. Yes.
00:31:47:11 - 00:31:48:02
Yeah, yeah.
00:31:48:02 - 00:31:49:06
So with Oculus
00:31:49:06 - 00:31:50:08
You know, with the Oculus,
00:31:50:08 - 00:31:52:08
you can pretty much set up meeting rooms.
00:31:52:08 - 00:31:53:06
Folks can come in
00:31:53:06 - 00:31:54:13
and you can actually have a meeting
00:31:54:13 - 00:31:55:00
with people
00:31:55:00 - 00:31:56:19
from whether it's other states,
00:31:56:19 - 00:31:58:01
other countries,
00:31:58:01 - 00:31:59:08
and you can actually like
00:31:59:08 - 00:32:01:09
walk up to a board, draw on the board.
00:32:01:09 - 00:32:02:08
If you wanted to,
00:32:02:08 - 00:32:03:17
I could go sit at the computer
00:32:03:17 - 00:32:05:07
and check my email.
00:32:05:07 - 00:32:07:16
It's pretty interesting, like.
00:32:07:16 - 00:32:10:20
Oh yeah, definitely.
00:32:10:21 - 00:32:12:01
I have an Oculus here, but I've.
00:32:12:01 - 00:32:13:18
Never used it, so I might have to.
00:32:13:18 - 00:32:15:04
Oh, you have to.
00:32:15:04 - 00:32:16:16
You got to
00:32:16:16 - 00:32:18:00
Now I'm in the metaverse stuff,
00:32:18:00 - 00:32:19:08
but I haven't even used an Oculus
00:32:19:08 - 00:32:20:11
Not like I'm actually so.
00:32:20:11 - 00:32:21:19
You have to.
00:32:21:19 - 00:32:22:21
All right, that's good to know.
00:32:22:21 - 00:32:24:05
Like, you had a meeting on the metaverse.
00:32:24:05 - 00:32:24:23
All right we're going to.
00:32:24:23 - 00:32:25:15
Yeah, yeah,
00:32:25:15 - 00:32:27:15
you can create pretty much virtual
00:32:27:15 - 00:32:28:15
reality meeting rooms.
00:32:28:15 - 00:32:29:15
Set it up how you want.
00:32:29:15 - 00:32:30:18
We could be at the spa,
00:32:30:18 - 00:32:32:17
we could be at the Lamborghini dealership
00:32:32:17 - 00:32:33:10
if we wanted to.
00:32:33:10 - 00:32:35:00
We could change the background
00:32:35:00 - 00:32:36:18
and then like for me,
00:32:36:18 - 00:32:38:14
I actually have meetings at my
00:32:38:14 - 00:32:40:04
office in the Metaverse, so
00:32:41:08 - 00:32:42:08
essentially I could invite
00:32:42:08 - 00:32:43:21
people into the meeting.
00:32:43:21 - 00:32:44:23
I'm sitting in front of my computer
00:32:44:23 - 00:32:46:23
Do they have to have Oculus now?
00:32:46:23 - 00:32:47:14
Oh yes, sir.
00:32:47:14 - 00:32:50:06
Yeah you have to have Oculus.
00:32:50:09 - 00:32:53:16
And then I can like check my email right
00:32:53:20 - 00:32:55:23
in the metaverse. It's pretty crazy.
00:32:55:23 - 00:32:56:21
That is pretty crazy.
00:32:56:21 - 00:32:59:06
So, all right, so I want to get to some
00:32:59:06 - 00:33:00:10
some lightning round questions
00:33:00:10 - 00:33:03:06
as we get ready to wrap up.
00:33:03:06 - 00:33:04:01
All right.
00:33:04:01 - 00:33:06:07
So what's it important conviction
00:33:06:07 - 00:33:07:23
You have that very few people agree
00:33:07:23 - 00:33:08:24
with you on?
00:33:10:03 - 00:33:11:19
00:33:12:08 - 00:33:14:06
Important conviction that I had that
00:33:14:06 - 00:33:18:09
very few people agree with me on.
00:33:18:13 - 00:33:19:22
That is a tough one!
00:33:19:22 - 00:33:21:23
Oh, oh, OK.
00:33:21:23 - 00:33:22:21
Of a conviction
00:33:22:21 - 00:33:25:18
that I have that very few people agree.
00:33:26:00 - 00:33:27:11
I mean, I'm a Patriots fan!
00:33:27:11 - 00:33:28:12
I don't know. People don't agree with that!
00:33:32:20 - 00:33:33:02
00:33:33:02 - 00:33:34:23
That is a good question.
00:33:34:23 - 00:33:35:10
I don't know.
00:33:35:10 - 00:33:36:24
I need an example of that.
00:33:36:24 - 00:33:37:14
Like what?
00:33:37:14 - 00:33:40:01
What's an example a conviction.
00:33:40:01 - 00:33:40:20
I can give you one
00:33:40:20 - 00:33:42:23
I got a good example.
00:33:42:23 - 00:33:46:15
I think that most people believe that.
00:33:48:08 - 00:33:50:24
They are inherently
00:33:51:05 - 00:33:52:16
good, but
00:33:52:16 - 00:33:53:03
they're a lot
00:33:53:03 - 00:33:54:04
worse than they think they are
00:33:54:04 - 00:33:56:00
and could be in the right situation.
00:33:56:00 - 00:33:57:19
So when you look at a situation
00:33:57:19 - 00:33:59:04
like Nazi Germany
00:33:59:04 - 00:34:00:16
and people look at like,
00:34:00:16 - 00:34:00:20
well,
00:34:00:20 - 00:34:02:16
how could all those people
00:34:02:16 - 00:34:04:21
go along with such a horrible practice?
00:34:05:06 - 00:34:06:05
I say very easily
00:34:06:05 - 00:34:07:08
because that's what humans do.
00:34:07:08 - 00:34:08:09
And when you're right,
00:34:08:09 - 00:34:10:03
when you're in a situation,
00:34:10:03 - 00:34:10:24
you'd be surprised
00:34:10:24 - 00:34:12:08
most of most people wouldn't
00:34:12:08 - 00:34:13:01
do the noble thing
00:34:13:01 - 00:34:14:06
that they think they would
00:34:14:06 - 00:34:16:02
if it meant their survival.
00:34:16:02 - 00:34:17:00
If it meant their survival.
00:34:17:00 - 00:34:18:12
If it meant their survival. Right.
00:34:18:12 - 00:34:19:01
So like
00:34:19:01 - 00:34:19:19
and so like
00:34:19:19 - 00:34:20:00
I would
00:34:20:00 - 00:34:20:18
so like and people
00:34:20:18 - 00:34:21:03
look at
00:34:21:03 - 00:34:23:13
like slavery was cool for about, what,
00:34:23:21 - 00:34:25:07
three 400 years, right?
00:34:25:07 - 00:34:27:15
I mean, like iand the practice was brutal
00:34:27:15 - 00:34:29:03
And people accepted the truth.
00:34:29:03 - 00:34:30:12
But accepted it.
00:34:30:12 - 00:34:31:05
Because people.
00:34:31:05 - 00:34:33:04
Will tell themselves lies
00:34:33:04 - 00:34:36:03
about how good they are and rarely see.
00:34:36:12 - 00:34:37:21
They'll automatically
00:34:37:21 - 00:34:39:00
see how bad others are,
00:34:39:00 - 00:34:41:09
but they're rarely see how bad they are
00:34:41:18 - 00:34:43:03
and they're never as good,
00:34:43:03 - 00:34:44:00
including myself
00:34:44:00 - 00:34:45:18
as we believe that we are.
00:34:45:18 - 00:34:46:05
I believe
00:34:46:05 - 00:34:48:10
and so on that on that same conviction
00:34:48:10 - 00:34:52:02
for me, I always say I never asked people
00:34:53:07 - 00:34:54:11
like, tell me three, three
00:34:54:11 - 00:34:55:21
good things about yourself.
00:34:55:21 - 00:34:57:14
Like, I always want to know people's bad
00:34:57:14 - 00:34:58:06
all the time.
00:34:58:06 - 00:34:59:03
I never asked
00:34:59:03 - 00:35:00:16
anybody anything good about themselves,
00:35:00:16 - 00:35:01:18
so that could be something
00:35:01:18 - 00:35:03:00
that most people don't agree with me on
00:35:03:00 - 00:35:04:13
because I don't want to know
00:35:04:13 - 00:35:05:24
what you feel like is good about you.
00:35:05:24 - 00:35:07:09
So let me know what's bad,
00:35:07:09 - 00:35:09:10
you know, because anybody can say, like,
00:35:09:13 - 00:35:10:22
what's great about themselves?
00:35:10:22 - 00:35:12:01
I can do that all day long,
00:35:12:01 - 00:35:14:00
but I do do that myself.
00:35:14:00 - 00:35:14:18
I never
00:35:14:18 - 00:35:15:14
I never really want to know
00:35:15:14 - 00:35:16:15
the good things about you.
00:35:16:15 - 00:35:18:00
Like, let me know the bad things
00:35:18:00 - 00:35:18:19
like like,
00:35:18:19 - 00:35:19:01
you get
00:35:19:01 - 00:35:20:04
bad time management
00:35:20:04 - 00:35:21:19
or you like to gamble
00:35:21:19 - 00:35:22:22
and like to waste money.
00:35:22:22 - 00:35:23:12
You know what I mean?
00:35:23:12 - 00:35:24:21
Because those are the type of things
00:35:24:21 - 00:35:26:03
that you want to know.
00:35:26:03 - 00:35:28:02
Just so I know how I got to deal with you
00:35:29:02 - 00:35:29:14
and I won't
00:35:29:14 - 00:35:30:20
put you in certain situations
00:35:30:20 - 00:35:31:19
that are triggering things
00:35:31:19 - 00:35:32:24
that you know you're right. Right?
00:35:32:24 - 00:35:34:03
That's a hard question to answer.
00:35:34:03 - 00:35:34:23
That could be.
00:35:34:23 - 00:35:35:23
Yeah, that's all right.
00:35:35:23 - 00:35:38:20
If you ask that question, interview
00:35:38:20 - 00:35:39:11
there's right ways,
00:35:39:11 - 00:35:41:00
and wrong ways to answer that.
00:35:41:00 - 00:35:42:19
But I think what you're looking for
00:35:42:19 - 00:35:43:19
is self-awareness, right?
00:35:43:19 - 00:35:45:01
Like self-awareness
00:35:45:01 - 00:35:48:08
to see if someone is self-aware of areas
00:35:48:08 - 00:35:49:06
about where they shouldn't,
00:35:49:06 - 00:35:50:07
where they should play, and shouldn't play
00:35:50:07 - 00:35:51:21
and I can answer that question easily.
00:35:51:21 - 00:35:53:12
Well, Rob shouldn't do is operations.
00:35:53:12 - 00:35:54:22
That's not me, right?
00:35:54:22 - 00:35:57:08
It's like, I'm not the operations person.
00:35:57:15 - 00:35:59:20
I'm the vision person.
00:35:59:20 - 00:36:00:22
Can I do operations?
00:36:00:22 - 00:36:02:02
Yeah, but that's not where.
00:36:02:02 - 00:36:03:04
That's not where you want me.
00:36:03:04 - 00:36:04:10
Like, you don't want me in operations
00:36:04:10 - 00:36:06:10
Yeah, you. Don't want me in CFO.
00:36:06:10 - 00:36:07:13
What you do want me is
00:36:07:13 - 00:36:08:22
you do want me to bring in the money.
00:36:08:22 - 00:36:10:00
You want me to lead the vision.
00:36:10:00 - 00:36:12:04
You want me to set up the basic structure
00:36:12:04 - 00:36:13:03
for how things are going to work,
00:36:13:03 - 00:36:14:16
to create an environment
00:36:14:16 - 00:36:16:07
that will create innovation.
00:36:16:07 - 00:36:18:11
But you do not want me to be the CLO.
00:36:18:11 - 00:36:19:12
Like that's never
00:36:19:12 - 00:36:20:08
All right.
00:36:20:08 - 00:36:22:01
Somebaody say the CLO I'll be like, Nope.
00:36:22:01 - 00:36:23:05
I'm not your person.
00:36:23:05 - 00:36:25:05
CFO. Nope. I'm not your person.
00:36:25:05 - 00:36:26:22
If it's a marketing job, I can do that.
00:36:26:22 - 00:36:29:06
If it's a leadership job
00:36:29:06 - 00:36:30:14
rallying people rallying
00:36:30:14 - 00:36:31:21
the vision bring an organization.
00:36:31:21 - 00:36:33:04
I can do that.
00:36:33:05 - 00:36:33:22
And again, I can.
00:36:33:22 - 00:36:34:23
Not that I don't understand
00:36:34:23 - 00:36:36:03
and appreciate operations.
00:36:36:03 - 00:36:37:15
I really, really do
00:36:38:18 - 00:36:40:06
because I'm working with
00:36:40:06 - 00:36:40:22
a startup company,
00:36:40:22 - 00:36:43:00
I've had to really dive into it.
00:36:43:00 - 00:36:43:16
But that's not where
00:36:43:16 - 00:36:44:24
my natural skillset lies.
00:36:44:24 - 00:36:46:14
So I mean, I just tell people
00:36:46:14 - 00:36:47:21
that question requires you
00:36:47:21 - 00:36:50:01
to understand, to be self-aware
00:36:50:01 - 00:36:51:06
and know how to
00:36:51:06 - 00:36:53:06
have gone through that introspection.
00:36:53:06 - 00:36:54:05
Most people don't, right?
00:36:54:05 - 00:36:54:10
I think.
00:36:54:10 - 00:36:56:01
That's another thing I've noticed about
00:36:56:01 - 00:36:56:09
that kind of.
00:36:56:09 - 00:36:57:05
Goes to my question earlier.
00:36:57:05 - 00:36:58:01
Like, you go through
00:36:58:01 - 00:36:59:14
introspection like, yes,
00:36:59:14 - 00:37:00:01
I'm like,
00:37:00:01 - 00:37:01:07
I hope I would have made
00:37:01:07 - 00:37:03:11
the right decision in those situations.
00:37:03:19 - 00:37:05:03
But no one can guarantee
00:37:05:03 - 00:37:07:00
that they would like to know
00:37:07:00 - 00:37:07:19
because they haven't.
00:37:07:19 - 00:37:08:21
Been in that situation.
00:37:08:21 - 00:37:10:21
Exactly, exactly.
00:37:10:21 - 00:37:12:15
I mean, people are adamant
00:37:12:15 - 00:37:13:04
about like
00:37:13:04 - 00:37:14:09
I would have stopped slavery,
00:37:14:09 - 00:37:15:04
and I tell people,
00:37:15:04 - 00:37:15:20
probably not,
00:37:15:20 - 00:37:17:02
especially people that say it like that
00:37:18:18 - 00:37:20:03
Or I would.
00:37:20:03 - 00:37:20:23
Go because you don't know
00:37:20:23 - 00:37:22:06
how much work that would have took.
00:37:22:06 - 00:37:24:07
And then are you willing to do that work?
00:37:24:07 - 00:37:25:01
You know
00:37:25:01 - 00:37:26:16
Do you do the work now for social justice
00:37:26:16 - 00:37:28:02
and risk anything like, right?
00:37:28:02 - 00:37:29:15
Like, if you're not doing it, taking a lot
00:37:29:15 - 00:37:30:20
Of risk on social justice right now.
00:37:30:20 - 00:37:32:12
I can guarantee you
00:37:32:12 - 00:37:33:18
you would not have taken a position
00:37:33:18 - 00:37:35:19
against slavery
00:37:35:19 - 00:37:37:06
Yeah, because it would have been
00:37:37:06 - 00:37:38:02
it would have meant that.
00:37:38:02 - 00:37:38:23
You would have had to risk
00:37:38:23 - 00:37:41:00
your privilege and wealth.
00:37:41:00 - 00:37:43:11
And people who don't normally do that
00:37:43:11 - 00:37:45:09
want to do that fact, which is.
00:37:45:09 - 00:37:46:09
Human nature again.
00:37:46:09 - 00:37:47:17
So anyway, all right.
00:37:47:17 - 00:37:49:18
So other questions.
00:37:49:18 - 00:37:52:06
So you have a committee of three,
00:37:52:06 - 00:37:53:08
these can be
00:37:54:07 - 00:37:56:00
living dead
00:37:56:00 - 00:37:59:02
to advise you on business life.
00:38:00:00 - 00:38:02:03
Who are these people and why?
00:38:02:05 - 00:38:04:11
Oh, I think I would go with Kobe
00:38:04:11 - 00:38:05:12
Bryant first.
00:38:05:12 - 00:38:06:12
OK, one, he's.
00:38:06:12 - 00:38:08:01
He's my favorite basketball player,
00:38:08:01 - 00:38:09:22
but to his work, his work
00:38:09:22 - 00:38:10:19
ethic was really
00:38:10:19 - 00:38:11:16
what what what
00:38:11:16 - 00:38:14:21
drove me to be so in tune with him.
00:38:15:13 - 00:38:17:21
So one would say. Yeah.
00:38:18:08 - 00:38:19:22
Insane work ethic.
00:38:19:22 - 00:38:21:01
So I would just want to be able
00:38:21:01 - 00:38:21:23
to pick his brain
00:38:21:23 - 00:38:22:13
and understand
00:38:22:13 - 00:38:25:02
that discipline aspect of it
00:38:25:02 - 00:38:27:09
and how he kept it up for so long.
00:38:27:09 - 00:38:28:06
So
00:38:28:21 - 00:38:30:14
how many people you said three? three.
00:38:30:14 - 00:38:32:17
That's that's one. Yeah. Yes, that's one.
00:38:32:18 - 00:38:34:03
Number two,
00:38:34:03 - 00:38:36:19
I think I would love to sit with Tupac,
00:38:37:06 - 00:38:38:03
you know?
00:38:38:08 - 00:38:39:00
Pac
00:38:39:06 - 00:38:40:20
Yeah, yeah. Yeah, Pac.
00:38:40:20 - 00:38:42:24
Because I felt like he was a visionary.
00:38:43:09 - 00:38:46:11
Way past his time in California.
00:38:46:14 - 00:38:47:07
Yeah. Yeah.
00:38:47:07 - 00:38:48:17
You're a Pac person. That makes sense.
00:38:48:17 - 00:38:49:20
And that's the thing.
00:38:49:20 - 00:38:50:20
I'm from New York.
00:38:50:20 - 00:38:51:24
Oh you're from New York.
00:38:51:24 - 00:38:52:12
Oh, right.
00:38:52:12 - 00:38:53:24
Oh, well, you're a traitor to your cause
00:38:54:23 - 00:38:55:19
I lived in Cali
00:38:55:19 - 00:38:57:01
But I was raised in New York.
00:38:57:01 - 00:38:59:12
Tupac over Biggie. Okay?
00:38:59:12 - 00:39:00:13
Yeah, and you know,
00:39:00:13 - 00:39:02:22
The thing with Pac is I felt like Pac
00:39:02:22 - 00:39:05:02
just was more of a visionary big.
00:39:05:13 - 00:39:07:11
Of course, being from Brooklyn.
00:39:07:11 - 00:39:07:23
I love
00:39:07:23 - 00:39:08:20
Biggie, but
00:39:08:20 - 00:39:10:09
Biggie showed me
00:39:10:09 - 00:39:11:24
everything that I wasn't.
00:39:11:24 - 00:39:13:14
When I was a kid, I wasn't on the corner.
00:39:13:14 - 00:39:15:12
I wasn't. I didn't do that stuff.
00:39:15:12 - 00:39:16:00
You know what I mean?
00:39:16:00 - 00:39:17:01
I think, for Pac
00:39:17:01 - 00:39:18:11
it was more of the vision
00:39:18:11 - 00:39:20:03
and what we could be as a people
00:39:20:03 - 00:39:21:01
and as a community
00:39:21:01 - 00:39:23:06
if we just got our shit together.
00:39:23:06 - 00:39:24:12
You know, like, like I.
00:39:24:12 - 00:39:27:01
Like I felt like that
00:39:27:01 - 00:39:28:05
Is just such a
00:39:28:05 - 00:39:29:03
we lost these brothers
00:39:29:03 - 00:39:31:06
before they got a chance to really
00:39:31:06 - 00:39:32:00
make an impact
00:39:32:00 - 00:39:33:11
because I think they would have made,
00:39:33:11 - 00:39:34:16
Obviously, Nipsey already did, and
00:39:35:17 - 00:39:36:01
Tupac's
00:39:36:01 - 00:39:37:19
legacy is still with us,
00:39:37:19 - 00:39:39:02
but I think he couldv'e done so much more.
00:39:39:02 - 00:39:39:22
had he lived longer.
00:39:39:22 - 00:39:41:09
Oh, for sure. Oh for sure.
00:39:41:09 - 00:39:43:13
And then third would be, Ye
00:39:43:14 - 00:39:44:17
Honestly, I would love.
00:39:44:17 - 00:39:46:19
to sit down with Kanye.
00:39:46:19 - 00:39:48:04
What would you ask Kanye?
00:39:48:04 - 00:39:48:21
What would you ask Kanye?
00:39:48:21 - 00:39:50:12
ok he's on the podcast?
00:39:50:12 - 00:39:52:06
Ye, we talking to you.
00:39:52:06 - 00:39:53:20
Kern got a question. Let's go.
00:39:53:20 - 00:39:56:00
Well, you know, I would love to hear.
00:39:56:00 - 00:39:58:09
I would love to hear why
00:39:58:09 - 00:39:59:12
around some of his moves,
00:39:59:12 - 00:39:59:21
you know,
00:39:59:21 - 00:40:01:22
even with support of Donald Trump.
00:40:02:04 - 00:40:04:06
You know, I'm not necessarily
00:40:04:06 - 00:40:06:00
I wasn't necessarily against that.
00:40:06:00 - 00:40:07:07
I just wanted to know
00:40:07:07 - 00:40:08:09
that outside the box
00:40:08:09 - 00:40:09:23
thinking for that because,
00:40:09:23 - 00:40:10:05
you know,
00:40:10:05 - 00:40:12:11
a lot of people will hate me for it.
00:40:12:11 - 00:40:14:14
But, you know, I identify
00:40:14:14 - 00:40:16:23
with Republicans, Democrats
00:40:16:23 - 00:40:17:23
and independents.
00:40:17:23 - 00:40:20:12
I'm not a wholehearted Democrat.
00:40:20:12 - 00:40:22:06
I'm not a wholehearted Republican.
00:40:22:06 - 00:40:24:02
I feel like there are certain aspects
00:40:24:02 - 00:40:25:23
of every party
00:40:25:23 - 00:40:28:13
that could benefit us as a culture
00:40:28:13 - 00:40:29:20
if we embraced it more.
00:40:29:20 - 00:40:32:16
But Kanye was really starting something,
00:40:33:02 - 00:40:34:17
and folks really shut it down
00:40:34:17 - 00:40:35:21
because nobody wants
00:40:35:21 - 00:40:37:09
to think outside of that box.
00:40:37:09 - 00:40:38:03
Nobody wants.
00:40:38:03 - 00:40:39:10
Everybody wants to be a Democrat.
00:40:39:10 - 00:40:40:18
But what is a Democrat like?
00:40:40:18 - 00:40:42:19
What exactly does that entail?
00:40:42:19 - 00:40:43:24
Does it save your taxes?
00:40:43:24 - 00:40:44:12
No.
00:40:44:12 - 00:40:46:06
Does it help you get to that next level
00:40:46:06 - 00:40:47:24
as an entrepreneur? No.
00:40:47:24 - 00:40:49:10
You know, like, what does it do?
00:40:49:10 - 00:40:50:02
What does it do for you
00:40:50:02 - 00:40:51:15
does it help you with social justice?
00:40:51:15 - 00:40:52:15
Or is it just a title
00:40:52:15 - 00:40:53:21
that we're running under
00:40:53:21 - 00:40:54:19
because everybody else run
00:40:54:19 - 00:40:55:17
under it. Human nature
00:40:55:17 - 00:40:57:00
like you said, you know? Yeah.
00:40:57:00 - 00:40:58:00
So for me,
00:40:58:00 - 00:40:59:12
I would just want to know like that
00:40:59:12 - 00:41:00:09
outside the box
00:41:00:09 - 00:41:02:14
thinking that made him take that,
00:41:02:14 - 00:41:03:11
you know, leap of courage
00:41:03:11 - 00:41:04:14
and everything that he does.
00:41:04:14 - 00:41:04:22
You know,
00:41:04:22 - 00:41:05:20
he went and got on
00:41:05:20 - 00:41:08:23
the board of Gap like Gap used to
00:41:08:24 - 00:41:12:01
set of close closed like $9 to $19.99.
00:41:12:01 - 00:41:12:17
I went in Gap
00:41:12:17 - 00:41:13:07
the other day there was
00:41:13:07 - 00:41:15:03
a sweater for $140.
00:41:17:12 - 00:41:18:14
I was like, what?
00:41:18:14 - 00:41:18:24
You know,
00:41:18:24 - 00:41:20:19
but those outside of the box
00:41:20:19 - 00:41:22:19
visionaries are definitely people
00:41:22:20 - 00:41:23:24
I would love to tap into
00:41:23:24 - 00:41:25:20
because I feel like that's
00:41:25:20 - 00:41:27:09
where you gain.
00:41:27:09 - 00:41:28:19
The empowerment is when you start
00:41:28:19 - 00:41:30:23
thinking outside of that box
00:41:30:23 - 00:41:32:09
that people try to place you in.
00:41:32:09 - 00:41:33:18
Yeah, no, I agree. I agree with that.
00:41:33:18 - 00:41:35:18
I mean, I really think
00:41:35:18 - 00:41:37:11
black folks have to be very strategic
00:41:37:11 - 00:41:38:24
about how they approach everything right?
00:41:38:24 - 00:41:40:05
And it's about you have to
00:41:40:05 - 00:41:41:08
You have to be like.
00:41:41:08 - 00:41:42:13
Every other race is
00:41:42:13 - 00:41:44:17
every other race is strategic
00:41:44:17 - 00:41:46:04
about how they approach
00:41:46:04 - 00:41:47:08
everything, even something
00:41:47:08 - 00:41:48:22
as simple as picking
00:41:48:22 - 00:41:50:14
their judicial individuals
00:41:50:14 - 00:41:52:22
within their own neighborhood courts
00:41:53:14 - 00:41:56:03
like, you know, like best
00:41:56:03 - 00:41:57:07
believe somebody's golfing
00:41:57:07 - 00:41:59:10
with that judge on Sunday.
00:41:59:10 - 00:42:00:15
Like, you. Know, I mean.
00:42:00:15 - 00:42:02:24
I completely agree.
00:42:02:24 - 00:42:05:02
I mean, it's it's it's all a game.
00:42:05:02 - 00:42:06:19
I mean, I had a belief
00:42:06:19 - 00:42:07:03
that I think
00:42:07:03 - 00:42:08:14
I think Donald Trump was super crazy.
00:42:08:14 - 00:42:10:00
So but but I.
00:42:11:14 - 00:42:12:05
I think he's an.
00:42:12:05 - 00:42:14:04
outlier to all this.
00:42:14:04 - 00:42:15:09
He will be like, I just, yeah,
00:42:15:09 - 00:42:16:07
I think he. Was, you know.
00:42:16:07 - 00:42:17:22
I feel like he was a disruptor.
00:42:17:22 - 00:42:18:20
I feel like he went in there.
00:42:18:20 - 00:42:19:23
It was definitely a disruptor.
00:42:19:23 - 00:42:21:16
It's about how he does it.
00:42:21:16 - 00:42:23:13
I think he was disruptive for
00:42:23:13 - 00:42:24:22
chaos and attention.
00:42:24:22 - 00:42:26:08
But like, I disrupt
00:42:26:08 - 00:42:28:02
I disrupt for empowerment.
00:42:28:02 - 00:42:29:03
So disruptions fine.
00:42:29:03 - 00:42:31:05
But I also think to your point,
00:42:31:13 - 00:42:32:06
it really helped
00:42:32:06 - 00:42:33:19
expose some things in the system.
00:42:33:19 - 00:42:35:10
So what I you know, at the.
00:42:35:10 - 00:42:36:22
end of the day we got to we got.
00:42:36:22 - 00:42:37:19
Hold people accountable too.
00:42:37:19 - 00:42:38:14
So like
00:42:38:24 - 00:42:39:05
we got
00:42:39:05 - 00:42:40:03
hold Democrats accountable
00:42:40:03 - 00:42:42:04
which we vote overwhelmingly for.
00:42:43:01 - 00:42:44:15
And look, I've run as a Democrat before,
00:42:44:15 - 00:42:46:14
but I also, you know, I'm
00:42:46:14 - 00:42:47:05
out of the system.
00:42:47:05 - 00:42:49:00
So I'm going to give my honest assessment
00:42:49:00 - 00:42:49:08
to say
00:42:49:08 - 00:42:51:02
that we got to hold everybody accountable
00:42:51:02 - 00:42:52:12
and we have to be
00:42:52:12 - 00:42:54:16
involved in the process.
00:42:54:16 - 00:42:56:04
And we got to have
00:42:56:04 - 00:42:57:10
some support from Republicans because.
00:42:57:10 - 00:42:59:21
You can't do anything in America
00:42:59:21 - 00:43:02:02
without them. Without them, right?
00:43:02:02 - 00:43:02:23
Republicans do this
00:43:02:23 - 00:43:03:19
better than Democrats
00:43:03:19 - 00:43:05:20
like they hold the line.
00:43:06:02 - 00:43:09:10
And so even when Democrats
00:43:10:17 - 00:43:11:12
To the tee!
00:43:11:12 - 00:43:12:20
So what you got to do is
00:43:13:16 - 00:43:14:13
So what are you going to do?
00:43:14:13 - 00:43:16:03
They will do nothing.
00:43:16:03 - 00:43:17:01
And you know,
00:43:17:01 - 00:43:18:16
and so that makes them a force,
00:43:18:16 - 00:43:21:09
even when they're not the majority.
00:43:21:09 - 00:43:22:16
They stick together, they.
00:43:22:16 - 00:43:24:02
Stay together like they stick together.
00:43:24:02 - 00:43:26:00
So you can't do anything.
00:43:26:00 - 00:43:28:12
Without Republican buy in at some point.
00:43:29:05 - 00:43:30:10
So.
00:43:30:18 - 00:43:31:21
If we can get to the point where
00:43:31:21 - 00:43:34:07
we're not emotional about this
00:43:34:07 - 00:43:35:17
and we figure out how we're
00:43:35:17 - 00:43:37:15
moving in a strategic manner,
00:43:37:15 - 00:43:38:06
I'm all for it
00:43:38:06 - 00:43:39:03
because there are some things
00:43:39:03 - 00:43:39:23
you can get accomplished
00:43:39:23 - 00:43:41:06
when you get both parties on board,
00:43:41:06 - 00:43:42:20
and that's where we need to go.
00:43:42:20 - 00:43:44:07
And I would love to be
00:43:44:07 - 00:43:44:19
the only thing I didn't
00:43:44:19 - 00:43:45:19
like about the current.
00:43:46:19 - 00:43:48:19
The current debate in the last election
00:43:49:00 - 00:43:49:16
was that, you know,
00:43:49:16 - 00:43:50:18
Trump was so far like,
00:43:50:18 - 00:43:51:13
I was like, All right,
00:43:51:13 - 00:43:51:22
there's some things
00:43:51:22 - 00:43:52:21
I'm not going to compromise.
00:43:52:21 - 00:43:53:07
Like,
00:43:53:07 - 00:43:55:09
he talks about us like we nonexistent
00:43:55:09 - 00:43:57:10
in, but like, I think Kanye,
00:43:57:10 - 00:43:58:21
I think Kanye to the point?
00:43:58:21 - 00:43:59:17
But I never really.
00:43:59:17 - 00:44:02:14
Went after Kanye and says this or that
00:44:02:21 - 00:44:04:18
because I'm assuming Kanye.
00:44:04:18 - 00:44:06:19
Either one has some type of strategy.
00:44:06:19 - 00:44:07:19
Even if it was helping
00:44:07:19 - 00:44:09:21
his brand like he went out there
00:44:09:21 - 00:44:10:17
and did some stuff,
00:44:10:17 - 00:44:11:21
and I don't agree with it.
00:44:11:21 - 00:44:13:01
But like black people
00:44:13:01 - 00:44:15:10
could have a different opinion. It's OK.
00:44:15:10 - 00:44:16:03
It's like,
00:44:16:21 - 00:44:18:00
OK, it's OK.
00:44:18:00 - 00:44:18:14
Like,
00:44:18:16 - 00:44:20:13
he could have a different opinion for me,
00:44:20:13 - 00:44:22:09
and I can still respect.
00:44:22:09 - 00:44:23:14
Respect his opinions.
00:44:23:14 - 00:44:23:20
You know,
00:44:23:20 - 00:44:25:03
I respect his opinion, and I can.
00:44:25:03 - 00:44:26:06
Still respect everything
00:44:26:06 - 00:44:27:22
he's done and not write him
00:44:27:22 - 00:44:28:16
and cancel them off
00:44:28:16 - 00:44:30:09
because I don't agree with his.
00:44:30:09 - 00:44:32:16
Vote, even no matter how controversial.
00:44:32:20 - 00:44:33:13
Like,
00:44:33:13 - 00:44:35:01
because Kanye is also done
00:44:35:01 - 00:44:35:15
a body work,
00:44:35:15 - 00:44:36:12
a lot of people
00:44:36:12 - 00:44:38:00
criticizing him haven't done
00:44:38:00 - 00:44:39:13
half the things he's done.
00:44:39:13 - 00:44:41:13
For the black community. At all. Period.
00:44:41:13 - 00:44:43:10
At all like,
00:44:43:10 - 00:44:45:15
And the fact that he became a billionaire
00:44:45:24 - 00:44:46:21
doing it like,
00:44:46:21 - 00:44:47:16
you know what I mean, like.
00:44:47:16 - 00:44:48:20
So he's helped and employed.
00:44:48:20 - 00:44:49:19
A lot of black people, too.
00:44:49:19 - 00:44:51:18
So like. At the end of the day, and then.
00:44:51:18 - 00:44:52:08
He realized
00:44:52:08 - 00:44:53:18
and he realized what he needed
00:44:53:18 - 00:44:54:20
to get into them rooms
00:44:54:20 - 00:44:56:19
like you can't get into certain rooms
00:44:56:19 - 00:44:58:14
unless you do have that b behind
00:44:58:14 - 00:45:00:15
your price tag, you know, like.
00:45:01:00 - 00:45:01:16
Any leverage to.
00:45:01:16 - 00:45:02:23
Get there off of off of
00:45:02:23 - 00:45:04:10
just the hustle in his day.
00:45:04:10 - 00:45:05:05
I think Kanye,
00:45:05:05 - 00:45:06:08
no matter what I don't agree with everything,
00:45:06:08 - 00:45:07:19
but Kanye's a genius man
00:45:07:19 - 00:45:08:16
Genius man.
00:45:08:17 - 00:45:10:16
He is high level.
00:45:10:16 - 00:45:12:17
Next level genius.
00:45:12:18 - 00:45:14:07
And I would definitely sit down
00:45:14:07 - 00:45:15:23
have nothing but respect
00:45:15:23 - 00:45:17:14
for what he's accomplished and his vision
00:45:17:14 - 00:45:18:18
and what he's done.
00:45:18:20 - 00:45:21:04
So a final question.
00:45:21:04 - 00:45:23:11
You have a billboard
00:45:23:11 - 00:45:25:09
or Google ad that
00:45:25:09 - 00:45:26:21
that summarizes your, your
00:45:28:02 - 00:45:30:08
statement or your belief.
00:45:30:08 - 00:45:31:06
Or you're saying in life,
00:45:31:06 - 00:45:32:19
what does that say?
00:45:33:12 - 00:45:36:03
Nobody's bigger than the business.
00:45:36:03 - 00:45:38:15
Nobody's bigger than the business.
00:45:38:15 - 00:45:40:00
And I think I stick to that
00:45:40:00 - 00:45:41:06
because again,
00:45:41:06 - 00:45:42:08
this is how we want to create
00:45:42:08 - 00:45:43:09
our generational wealth
00:45:43:09 - 00:45:44:04
We want to pass this
00:45:44:04 - 00:45:45:24
from generation to generation.
00:45:45:24 - 00:45:48:18
So you've got to make that your plateau
00:45:49:01 - 00:45:50:09
and you got to support that
00:45:50:09 - 00:45:51:20
and you've got to put that in place.
00:45:51:20 - 00:45:53:22
Make sure that that stays strong
00:45:53:22 - 00:45:55:05
and keep pushing forward.
00:45:55:05 - 00:45:58:04
So that would probably be like huge for me
00:45:58:04 - 00:46:00:00
is that nobody's bigger than a brand,
00:46:00:00 - 00:46:02:09
nobody's bigger than the business
00:46:02:09 - 00:46:03:12
Cool! Kern Alexander it's been a pleasure
00:46:03:12 - 00:46:04:19
to have you on Disruption Now.
00:46:04:19 - 00:46:05:09
Appreciate you man.
00:46:05:09 - 00:46:06:18
Definitely thank you so much.
00:46:06:18 - 00:46:07:12
Thank you for having me.
00:46:07:12 - 00:46:09:05
You guys have a great night. Thank you.
